We had the good fortune of connecting with Barbara Redlin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Barbara, why did you pursue a creative career?
What started as just helping a friend out with a heavy load of work turned into a business of my own. She saw a talent (“gift”) in me that I didn’t see in myself and really encouraged me to keep working on my skills to go out on my own.
I had previously owned a cleaning business in another state but it was very hard physically and not as financially rewarding so when this opportunity presented itself I had to seriously consider it.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
While working on very expensive garments is a bit scary at times, I am never so excited as I am at the last fitting, not just because the project is completed but to see the joy on their face when the garment finally fits perfectly.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We love to visit Golden CO and enjoy the shopping and eating downtown. In the summer it’s also fun to go tubing there as well!
Our all time favorite is Estes Park…who doesn’t love the mountains!!
Our favorite pastime is playing pickleball at WYCO park and my church, Calvary Community Baptist Church in Northglenn!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to start with a shoutout to my grandma who gave me a Holly Hobby sewing machine in first grade, starting me off with a small quilt for my baby doll. Both of my grandmothers enjoyed needlework and sewing, and I loved seeing what they had made!
Both my Mom and Dad were hard workers and expected the same from us.
There are many people who have greatly impacted my life (too many to list individually) My husband greatly encouraged me to pursue this sewing opportunity and has helped me get set up well to really make the most of it!
My family is a great help when the business gets really busy. And my dad-in-law and mom-in-law have always been inquisitive and encouraging me all along the way.
Most of all I’m thankful to my Lord and Savior for this gift He’s blessed me with, that I can be a help to others! Marci Corwine, my mentor and friend, saw something in me that I didn’t see in myself. She excitedly taught me about the methods and techniques of bridal alterations while mentoring me through the business side. I could never repay her for all that she’s done for me.
