Meet Ben Sorensen | President- Ascent Digital

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ben Sorensen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ben, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have always had a passion for marketing and for helping businesses grow- after 10 years with a corporate agency it became clear that there was so much more we could do to help businesses. So, I took a leap of faith and started my company with the belief that if we helped enough other businesses thrive- we too would thrive. The idea was simple- an agency that was nimble and flexible with our offerings and service levels, custom solutions for each client, above and beyond responsiveness and customer service, and top notch deliverables.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Ascent Digital is a full service digital marketing agency, we help businesses all across the country grow through online marketing and advertising. What sets us apart from others, by far, is the team we have built. We have been incredibly intentionally to not only hire incredibly talented specialists- but to hire with culture as a top priority. Because of this, we have built a team of rock stars that have passion for what they do, and we have some fun while doing it! I think that has made the biggest difference- when we enjoy our work, our work is the best it can be. Additionally, when we enjoy our work- our clients feel it! They feel the energy and passion we bring to their business and it translates to better results. It’s impossible to quantify- but it’s the biggest difference I’ve seen. To quote Eric Thomas – “We don’t blow up because of what we do, we blow up because of the passion with which we do what we do”.

Because of this, after 13 short months in business Ascent digital is a multi million dollar agency, a team of 10 (and growing), and over 160 clients all across the country. But it certainly has not been easy! We have had to overcome immeasurable challenges- but the adversity has made our teams closer and stronger. The biggest challenge has been maintaining the quality of work, the customer service level, and the responsiveness while also growing exponentially.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Durango is one of the coolest places in the state! We would definitely walk main street and enjoy the amazing retail shopping and restaurants. But, the real magic happens when we leave the city. We would likely take a hike up to Spud lake, ride the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, soak in the Durango Hot Springs, and enjoy the outdoors and the amazing setting that makes Durango so special.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Everyone deserves the credit besides me! I have been surrounded by so many talented people, and overwhelming support. Specifically, my wife deserves a huge shout out. She not only had the confidence in me to quit my job and chase the dream, she has been indescribably supportive throughout the process. There is no way in the world I could do it without her support.

Beyond that, my team deserves a huge shoutout. Ascent Digital doesn’t exist without our talented team- all I do is get out of their way and let them do what they do best! At the end of the day, we do the same thing thousands of other agencies do, it’s the people behind it that make all the difference!
