Meet Julia Royall | Family Nurse Practitioner and Spiritual Healer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Julia Royall and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Julia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
From the moment I decided that I was going to make the transition from registered nurse (RN) to nurse practitioner (NP), a little “pipe dream” started to emerge. I yearned to practice medicine differently; I wanted to incorporate my spiritual and holistic beliefs in a way that is not taught in Western medicine schools. I had a dream of creating a hybrid healthcare model that was all encompassing…..but that was all it was in the beginning, an unrealistic and unconventional dream. If you would have asked me one year ago where I would be today, I guarantee that none of the answers I would have given you would have included starting a business and following that dream!
The truth is, I didn’t have much of a thought process when I began this journey. I can honestly say that I feel as though I was divinely guided on this venture. At the beginning of 2022 my mind, body, and soul revolted against the busy hospital and clinic setting that I had called home for the past 14 years. I felt trapped in a cage where my voice was silenced and I couldn’t be impactful. So, I made the decision to never go back and to continue to forge the path for what I feel is my true calling, as a healer who doesn’t define herself by societies boundaries. Quite frankly, I had no idea what I was doing, and to stay true to my transparent self, maybe I still don’t! However, I’m learning and growing every day and it’s all part of the journey!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My biggest challenge is also what sets me apart from other practitioners, but I would be lying if I said trying to blend Eastern and Western medicine was easy. Conventional (allopathic) medical schools of thought are based on scientific research and evidence-based practice, which is invaluable to how we practice medicine in this country and around the world. However, what Western medicine lacks is the knowledge of the “unknown.” When things can’t be scientifically explained, we focus on symptom management, often in the form of pharmaceuticals. Conversely, this is where ancient worldly teachings come into play, as they give us spiritual reasons for our body’s dis-ease. It is this realm that I am most excited about and is also how I feel I can make the biggest impact in this world before I leave it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, I guess it would depend on the season and where they are coming from, but Colorado Springs has so much to offer! In the winter one must take a trip to the mountains, whether it is for skiing/snowboarding or just general moseying around; for this I suggest Monarch Mountain and the Salida/Buena Vista area! The resort has a very “locals only” feel and you don’t have to fight crowds as much as you do at the big resorts up I-70. Oh, and don’t forget to stop at Eddyline Brewery and Mount Princeton Hot Springs while you at it!
In the Summer, I would probably take a friend backpacking in Lost Creek Wilderness or to Patty Jewett golf course for a quick nine. I’m not even going to start listing my favorite restaurants because I’ll never stop!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband, Benjamin, for his unwavering support. Without him none of this would be possible, nor would I be the “healed” human that I am today without his love and encouragement.
