We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandon Roach and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brandon, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
What makes me the most happy, is the simple prospect of being alive still and waking up everyday knowing I have a new opportunity to get closer to. Throughout all of my near death experiences the one lesson that’s been projected into my life, is to always be grateful no matter the circumstances; some of the most profoundly negative events in my life have given me the most beautiful outcomes in the end. So for me my happiness mostly stems from the fact I’m still alive and I still have chances to achieve my goals. I think if collectively society learns to give more thanks for the life we live in this short time. people may feel a greater sense of happiness as well.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
For me personally, I’ve been playing guitar since I was 6 (I’m 22 now), so the instrument has always been a profound part of my life and always came very natural. I didn’t do much with it when I was young, mostly just played songs by The Beatles, and noodled around, but it wasn’t til I was in high school that I started learning Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix songs, which would lay the foundation of my playing. Around that same time, I was deeply involved in the sport of Downhill Skateboarding. I would come home from sending it on the open roads in the Colorado Rockies all day, filled with adrenaline and hype; all of the energy I felt from the day on the hills, would be reciprocated into my guitar at night. It was a very healthy balance of expression I discovered for myself at a pretty young age. All that would change though. When I was 19, I was in a really bad skateboarding accident that would shift my life forever. I no longer wanted to pursue skating as a career, so I changed my pursuit to music. While recovering from this accident, I taught myself how to record and put out music, while at the same time trying to get better at my guitar technique and overall sound. Around this same time too, I discovered the art of Sound Healing, and using music to heal trauma. Throughout all of this learning and exposure to new concepts. I found my true passion in life, and it led me to this moment now. It all came from a traumatic accident, that stemmed into the life I have created for myself today.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Denver metro area is a playground for sure – in between the vibrant city and foothills just a few miles away, there’s quite literally endless things to do here. Some of my favorite spots to go jam at while the sun is setting and everyone goes to the park after their day is over, are Confluence park and Sloans Lake! Lookout Mountain is a favorite of mine too, not only is the skating really fun there, but the views are immaculate and there’s tons of trails around too. Very blessed to call this place my home, and for the endless opportunities to go out and do something fun! 🙂

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Big shoutout to my good friend, business partner, vegetable in crime, and one of the most unique individuals on the planet, JahSlim. Jah and I formed a band called ‘Slim Organics’. We’re both skinny, vegan, and embrace the organic lifestyle. We combine House, EDM, and Techno genres, with Fingerstyle, Math-Rock guitar from my own style found in my videos. We plan to expand our business, brand, and sound throughout all of this year and can’t wait to spread our nutritious sounds with all our fans <3 Jah is a crazy dialed in DJ, and plays an essential role in the Denver underground scene, so very thankful to have him in my life, and to be pursuing this adventure with him. Slim Organics, Baby 🙂
