We had the good fortune of connecting with Brenda Loya and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brenda, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
Honesty and respect are to me the most important core values in all aspects of life. They are the foundation of trust and necessary for all types of relationships to thrive. As a fitness coach, it is imperative for me to build rapport with my clients and gain their trust in order to build a long lasting, productive trainer-client dynamic. Cultivating an open-mind, being attentive to the particular needs of a client, and having transparent communication are key elements to how I handle my coaching practice.
With so many fitness fads and trends out there giving people a skewed perspective in relation to achieving optimal health and physical wellness, it is crucial to have factual based guidance that is specified to the individual. This one-size fits all approach is why many people find themselves lost and struggling to reach their health and fitness target. These fitness fads fail to say that people are unique and everyone is built differently. What works for some, might not work for others. Each human body is its own universe and requires a unique approach.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
At B Fit Personal Fitness, I strive to provide an inclusive and non-intimidating environment in which anyone can feel safe and comfortable to perform physical activity tailored to their current ability. I don’t just tell people what to do! With my client-centered approach, my clients are in control of their journey. I’m here to guide, collaborate, and help them navigate a path towards their goals.
My goal as a personal trainer is to help people optimize their movement quality, because when you move well, you feel good. Whether you are looking for one-on-one training, small group training, or simply a good workout, I will help you build a solid foundation for proper movement and efficacy. Even those uninterested in physical activity will benefit from my behavior-based model that emphasizes building healthy eating habits and daily practices necessary for a better, healthier you.
I am most proud of starting my own coaching practice and feel fortunate to be working for myself, all while raising a family. I am most excited to build a brand dedicated to finding solutions for those seeking to better themselves. I look forward to establishing a private studio where preventative wellness topples reactive healthcare remedies.
Through trial and error, continuing education, and a whole lot of drive, I have been able to sustain a business model that aligns with my personal philosophy. Nothing of value comes easy; hard work along with much sweat and tears have enabled me to overcome hardships of entrepreneurship. An essential part of business sustainability is to continuously educate yourself while being open to new approaches in this ever changing business landscape. My previous exposure in the healthcare industry has shaped my perspective on wellbeing and thus sets me apart from traditional aesthetic focused fitness.
In fitness and wellbeing, there is no such thing as a shortcut or quick fix. Good things take time, consistency, and effort. I have also learned the ideal moment does not exist and you must never wait for the perfect time to pursue what is important to you.
The overwhelming environmental stimuli we are all exposed to daily may push or pull you in different directions. What matters is to make time for what you want to accomplish and take action now. What you do every day matters more than what you do every once in a while. Start small, and gradually build up from it.
People should know I made a conscious decision to step away from the healthcare industry once I found myself in the weeds of illness and realized I needed to change my lifestyle. I always had a passion for helping others and assumed healthcare would allow me to make an impact. I soon realized that nothing is better than teaching and guiding people to prevent illness through physical exercise and nutrition.
After going through a healthcare scare in my mid-twenties, I elected to step into a gym for the first time. Fitness changed my life in so many ways; I became a better, healthier, and more confident woman- thriving in many areas of my life. I found a calling to project that onto others through health and fitness.
I constantly try to put in practice what I learn as continuous learning is fundamental in a coaching role. My clients can expect me to be reliable, analytical, and disciplined. They know I always work with integrity and respect.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Our beautiful rocky mountains cannot be overlooked. Whether we start the day with a hike or a killer workout at Red Rocks, I would take my best friend to enjoy a scenic drive while choosing from the expanding variety of cuisines our melting pot of a city has to offer. After replenishing our bodies with great food, and given the physical effort given earlier, it would be great to get some self care at a spa before enjoying the nightlife in the Highland.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost I want to thank my loving husband for always encouraging and empowering me to get out there and do what I am passionate about. I also want to send a shoutout to Kenton and Clark Stevens, owners of a Planet Fitness franchise, for encouraging me to be the face of their gym on local TV! It was a great honor and an amazing experience. And lastly, I want to thank my family and friends for all the love and support throughout my journey.
