We had the good fortune of connecting with Brie Doyle and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brie, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
I believe the way to impact the world starts with examining and nurturing ourselves. She Glows Retreats holds space for women (and now men!) to come and have these important introspective, nourishing and contemplative experiences. As the pace of our culture continues to increase, the need for regular retreat becomes even more valuable. We are experts in the field of curating and guiding these experiences of internal transformation for people.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We host transformational retreats for people who are seeking to heal their past, reconnect with their creativity and purpose, and live their dreams. Our retreats have a special component we call our “Heart Curriculum” that takes participants on an internal emotional, and energetic journey while with us. So, along with yoga, meditation, breath work, dance, ceremony, and ritual, our Heart Curriculum content offers participants a personal growth curriculum, as well.
One of my biggest accomplishments as a business owner was writing and publishing a book about the importance of this work of retreating: You Should Leave Now: Going on Retreat to Find Your Way Back to Yourself. Writing the book and sharing the message with podcasts, companies and groups has been deeply rewarding.
I’ve been fortunate to be able to allow the business to grow as my kids age. One of my biggest challenges is always balancing family and creative/professional aspirations. I have lots of big ideas. But if I’m helping the world and not my own family, I feel my priorities are confused. I know I could expand even more right now. But this would be to the detriment of my family. So, I’m putting all my energy into the retreats that are already out there with the intention of adding more as it feels right. I don’t want to bring a frenzied energy to my work or my family. So I have to stay in deep integrity with this intention. This is the blessing/challenge of being a parent.
My wish is to change the narrative around mental health in our country and beyond. One of my goals is to put retreating on the map as a valuable form of self-care for everyone to use as a proactive mental health tool. I know from my own experience that when we make space for and take care of ourselves, everyone around us benefits. I want my company and my brand to be a reminder of this message.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d take them on a hike up Bear Canyon, out to dinner at Curry and Kebab (my fav Indian restaurant!), then out to Tonic Herbal Lounge for some Oxygen, a few herbal tonics and a raw dessert. Then we’d go to the Relaxation Station to end the night with massage. The best part about Boulder is definitely the trails, so I’d spend as much time there as possible.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
To my repeat clients who continue to show up to retreat, are the first to sign up for any new offerings I have, share my book and work with everyone they know, and continue to share their wisdom at our retreats, I am endlessly thankful for you.
