We had the good fortune of connecting with Brionna Murray and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brionna, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My business originated more from the heart rather than thought. Since I was a young girl I dreamed of having my own psychotherapy practice. I loved the idea of being my own boss while serving my community. So once I completed all my educational requirements I simply followed my gut and heart which lead me to manifesting my dreams! Of course the left brain was involved in the process at times. I was very thoughtful around the ways I chose to market myself through social media, building my website, and being accessible on therapy directories. I spent endless hours teaching myself about the business side of private practice because that was something that definitely was not taught in my graduate education. I like to believe that I used a balance between my mind, body, and spirit to guide me on starting my own business.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My practice is focused around trauma healing through a range of modalities including EMDR, somatic processing, mindfulness techniques, and attachment theory. I am most proud of holding space for others to do the truly hard work. Healing from our wounds not only heals the individual but everyone around them and the greater community. It’s an honor to spread this healing energy with the world. There has been many ups and downs with my business. Times where I felt insecure, like an imposter or totally lost and times where I felt so incredibly aligned with the work I am doing. Having owned the business for 3.5 years, I now can trust the flow of the ups and downs and embrace it with more ease.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Ah so much to show them, we live in a beautiful state after all. I would first take them to some of my favorite Boulder spots to wine and dine. I would include some hikes and seeing live music (probably at red rocks as everyone should see a show there at least once). If they were a more adventurous friend I would spend a night or two camping or checking out an ecstatic dance. My favorite place in Boulder which is like a second home to me, is a place called The Root Kava Co. I visit kava bars around the country like people do with Breweries or wineries, very inclusive and welcoming space.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There is so many people that guided me along this journey, from my friends and family to fellow therapist and my supervisors.
