We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittanie Bae and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittanie, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I would say the key factor behind my success and the success of my brand is teamwork & collaboration. Coloroom Aveda Salon, from the very beginning, started with collaboration between my business partner and me. Our vision is to create a space where stylists & employees are empowered to utilize their best skills and reach their fullest potential. We provide resources for stylists to build their own personal brand and we provide one-on-one coaching for long-term life goals. We believe that by collaborating, not just with each other, but also with our staff, we are able to thrive. By listening to our team, trusting their talents and giving them ownership over their careers, it perpetuates growth for all of us.

I think the success of any company truly sits with their values. We’ve built our business on a set of three values that we hold close to our hearts.

Be a Good Listener — In an industry full of chatter, we aspire, above all else, to be good listeners. To pay attention and be fully present for each person in our chair, our co-workers & ourselves.

Do Excellent Work — We are dedicated to excelling in our craft. We are professional, detail oriented, efficient & creative. We prioritize continued education in order to stay relevant and continually expand our skills.

Radiate Positivity — We show up with infectious enthusiasm. We know just how extraordinary it is to love the career we’re in and each day we intentionally infuse that enthusiasm into our work.

It’s with these values that we all work together to uphold a culture that believes in teamwork & collaboration.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Aside from growing my business, working behind-the-chair keeps me extremely busy! Being a hairstylist is something I wanted to be for a long time. I remember my first real salon visit, the experience impacted me so deeply that I asked my stylist at that very appointment, “How do I become a hairstylist?!”  My biggest goal when I’m behind-the-chair is to deliver the ideal client experience with relentless wow!

What I’m proud of, and what I specialize in, is giving everyday hair to the everyday person. I consult with my clients every single time they are in my chair and hardly ever do what we were originally booked for! I uncover struggles they’re having with their hair and discuss goals they want to achieve. I want my client to leave with hair they LOVE! I talk to them about what they need to do to achieve the look in that Pinterest photo, how to style it and I prepare them for any maintenance required to keep it up.

I’ve trained under some of the most amazing professionals in the hair industry and I’ve taken everything I’ve learned back to my clients and put it to work. Continuing education is KEY to success in this industry. With trends evolving so quickly, we have to stay on top of it!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Oh, yes, of course! My first shoutout goes to my husband, Woojae. Without his encouragement, I might not have even made it to beauty school! He’s been my rock and my biggest fan. I would not be where I am without his love & support. He even endured a few bad haircuts in my early days! 😉

Secondly, my business partner, Stefani. It’s such a privilege to work next to her and build our dreams into reality together. I am thankful beyond measure to have her in my life!
