Meet Amanda Phalen | Model and Emergency Room Worker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Phalen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda, what matters most to you?
In terms of my modeling career, I’ve based everything I do off the principle of confidence and self love. I spent years as a child and young adult criticizing and doubting myself, to the point of hospitalization and attempted suicide. I want to stress to everyone that views my work that confidence comes from within. And self love isn’t selfish. After all, if we can’t love ourselves first, nobody can.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Aside from modeling, I also work full time in the emergency room at my local trauma center doing patient registration. I absolutely adore being a part of the ER team and although I am not considered medical staff, I love having the opportunity every day to have a positive impact on the patients and families that come into our care.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am based out of Des Moines Iowa, so there’s not a ton of things to do in my area, but I do enjoy our state parks!! One of my favorites is Ledges, a beautiful hiking spot with countless trails to explore!

I am going to dedicate my shoutout to all of my loved ones who’ve supported me over the last 8-9 years
