We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Bull and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brittany, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I didn’t really set out with the intention of starting a soap company. We live on a little slice of heaven at the base of the foothills just outside of Loveland, Colorado. We raise and show Dairy Goats. We use their delicious milk for so many things. I quickly found out how much milk they produce and I was running out of ideas on what to do with it. I was introduced to making soap with goat milk and all the amazing benefits it has for your skin. I fell in love with soaping. After years of making soap just for family and friends, I decided to take the risk to start my own business and start marketing myself and my products. Being a stay at home mom of five, our farm and all the responsibilities that go along with that, I didn’t know how I would find the time to dive all in to start my soap company. My passion for health and intimate love of nature was my inspiration and living where we do has been the perfect backdrop for creating the natural products that I do. I’m a naturalist and someone who lives the simple life. Drawn to the outdoors, exploring and using my hands to create. Practicing the traditional cold process technique was the perfect way to incorporate everything I love and believe in. I was instantly hooked. I now get the opportunity to create new recipes, experiment with natural ingredients all while letting my artistic abilities be shown. Over the past few years I’ve thrived on the importance of living a natural, toxic free, and making handmade soap is a way to share my passion and introduce others to skincare products that are cleansing, beneficial and beautiful without the chemicals and synthetic ingredients!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My love for health and nature intertwined and has been my inspiration to create handmade soap and skin care the old fashioned way. I once read that we shouldn’t put anything on our skin that we wouldn’t eat and I’ve applied that motto into my life passion, creating all-natural soap and skincare. I’m dedicated to crafting products that have nourishing and healing qualities that literally ‘feed your skin’ using only the best ingredients that nature has to offer. I truly love what I do! My natural, hand poured products are scented with only essential oils and are free from harmful chemicals such as synthetic fragrance oils, sodium laurel sulfate, parabens, phthalates, petroleum by-products and artificial coloring/preservatives. Creating soaps the old fashioned way means that the naturally occurring glycerin is not removed. This gentle ingredient formed in the soap making process is perfect for hydrating your skin.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Definitely the mountains! We would tour some little mountain towns, ski, hike. Stay at our home for sure! We love to cook and eat the food grown on our farm
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My grandmother, she was the epitome of a string women. She started selling real estate in Colorado when it was predominantly men in the industry. She worked and built an amazing life for her and my grandfather. They were able to both retire at an early age and live a very comfortable life. I was taught at an early age what hard work really means and the value of a dollar. My grandmother instilled in me so many things, I could never pay her back
