We had the good fortune of connecting with Brooke Harter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brooke, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
As I reflect on my career journey, I see risk-taking as a pivotal element. Initially, I had a successful career in product management, climbing up to a Senior PM role at a web3 startup. Yet, deep inside, there was always a burning desire to be an entrepreneur and to align my professional life with my personal passion for nutrition. This passion wasn’t arbitrary; it was deeply rooted in my experiences as a competitive figure skater and my battle with an eating disorder.

Taking the leap from a stable career in product management to pursue dietetics was daunting. I was comfortable where I was, and stepping out of that comfort zone required a significant mental shift. I had to look myself in the eye and confront a critical truth: if I didn’t make this change now, I probably never would. That realization was a turning point.

Approaching risk, for me, has always been about aligning with my core values and long-term vision. Yes, there was comfort in my existing career, but it didn’t resonate with what I truly wanted to achieve in life. I knew deep down that embracing this risk was not just about changing careers; it was about being true to myself and pursuing a path that I was genuinely passionate about.

Embracing this uncertainty wasn’t easy, but it was an opportunity for immense growth. It meant learning anew, facing unfamiliar challenges, and stepping into a world that was entirely different from what I had known. But this risk was calculated; it wasn’t a leap into the dark but a step towards a future I had always envisioned for myself.

In essence, risk-taking in my career has been about more than just making a change. It’s been about personal growth, aligning my professional life with my passions and values, and daring to pursue what truly matters to me. It’s a testament to the fact that sometimes, the greatest risk lies in not taking one at all.

What should our readers know about your business?
My journey into entrepreneurship began when I transitioned from product management to dietetics. I noticed a significant gap in educational and admissions coaching for career changers in this field. The requirements to become a dietitian are extensive, including a master’s degree, a 1,000+ hour internship, and a licensing exam. Initially, I was daunted, thinking it would take six years to achieve my goal. However, I discovered an efficient pathway designed by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, specifically for career changers like me.

What sets my business apart is its foundation in this unique pathway and my personal experience as a career changer. I’ve dedicated my service to helping others navigate this challenging transition and successfully apply to graduate school. In just one year, I’ve assisted over 100 career changers, achieving a 100% acceptance rate into dietetic programs, and have established partnerships with graduate schools as a marketing advocate.

Starting this business was far from easy. I began with no prior experience in this specific niche, teaching myself social media marketing, blogging, email marketing, website development, and program creation. The road was filled with trials and errors, all while I was undergoing my graduate studies. These challenges taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of self-belief.

I’m most proud of the impact I’ve had on over 100 individuals, helping them realize their dreams of becoming dietitians. It’s a testament to the power of perseverance and the value of targeted, specialized guidance.

The key lesson from my journey is the importance of not letting fear or uncertainty hinder your aspirations. My message to the world is clear: It’s never too late to change your career and life’s direction. Pursue your passions and goals with determination, because living with regret is a far greater risk than embracing change. My brand and story embody this philosophy – a commitment to empowering individuals to follow their dreams and redefine their futures.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting for a week, I’d make sure it’s an unforgettable experience combining the natural beauty of Colorado with the urban charm of Denver. We’d kick off the trip with a visit to Red Rock and Boulder, immersing ourselves in the scenic landscapes and the unique vibe of the town.

In Denver, I’d take them to Sushi Den, an absolute must for the best sushi around, and The Kitchen, known for its incredible food and cocktails. We’d spend a day exploring Denver’s neighborhoods, galleries, and shops, soaking in the city’s culture and energy.

Then, we’d head into the mountains, which for me, is always the highlight. Discovering new chill spots in the mountains and enjoying the tranquility is an experience like no other. We’d spend a couple of days there, exploring different areas, maybe even finding a cozy mountain eatery for lunch.

I’d also take my friend golfing, one of my favorite ways to relax and have fun. We’d spend a day on a beautiful Colorado golf course, enjoying the game and the stunning surroundings.

Throughout the week, we’d balance our time between outdoor adventures and enjoying the best of Denver’s culinary scene. From hiking and exploring mountain towns to experiencing the city’s nightlife and cultural spots, every day would bring something new and exciting.

By the end of the week, I hope to have shared the essence of Colorado with my best friend – its breathtaking natural beauty, its vibrant cities, and all the little adventures in between. It’s about creating those memories that you cherish forever.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to give a special shoutout to my fiancé, Alex. He’s been an incredible force in my life, constantly inspiring and encouraging me to reach my full potential. His support has been pivotal in my journey, and I truly believe I wouldn’t be where I am today without him. I’m excited and optimistic about our future, especially about the prospect of conquering the business world together. Here’s to many more successes and shared achievements!”
