Meet Caitlyn Bernier | Stretch Therapist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Caitlyn Bernier and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Caitlyn, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
Most people think stretching is something you can fully do on your own, but assisted stretching is a completely different experience. When you stretch yourself, your body’s natural protective reflex often limits your range of motion, and you tend to favor the movements that feel comfortable. In a professional session, we use specific techniques to safely move your body beyond what you could achieve alone, targeting tight or imbalanced areas you might not even realize are restricting you. A trained stretch therapist can assess your mobility, spot asymmetries, and apply just the right pressure and angles to release tension, improve alignment, and increase flexibility. This isn’t just about feeling looser, it’s about improving joint health, reducing injury risk, enhancing performance, and helping your body move and recover more efficiently.

What should our readers know about your business?
FLEX Stretch Therapy stands out because of the care I take with each client. From the moment they walk through the door, I want them to feel safe, supported, and genuinely cared for, both during their session and long after they leave. Many of my clients have become friends, and that trust is the foundation of what we do. I use PNF (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation) techniques to help clients achieve a deeper, more effective stretch, but I also focus on creating an environment where they can truly relax. If they can’t relax, the work we do is counteracted.
One of my proudest moments was moving from renting a space part-time to opening my own full-time location and leaving my part-time jobs. Now, I’m thrilled to be opening a second location, which feels like the next big step.
Starting out, my biggest fear was that no one would walk through the door, but by joining a networking group, becoming part of the local chamber, and connecting with other small businesses, I was welcomed into the Lafayette community with open arms. it made success feel inevitable.
Along the way, I’ve learned not to be afraid to promote myself, to trust that the right people will find me, and to move faster because speed is key. FLEX isn’t just about selling a service; it’s about helping people feel more able, empowered, and excited for what the future holds. My goal is for every client to walk out feeling safe, comfortable, and truly better in their body, knowing they don’t have to live with the discomfort they’ve been experiencing.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to visit for a week, I’d want them to get the full taste of life here, literally and figuratively.
We’d kick things off in Lafayette with coffee from The Read Queen, their coffee and pastries are amazing, and stroll through the charming shops downtown. I’d definitely take them to Teocalli for incredible tacos, and if it’s a weekend, we’d hit the Lafayette Farmers Market.
Boulder would take up a big part of the trip: brunch at Lucile’s, a wander down Pearl Street, hiking Chautauqua, and ending the night with food and rooftop hangout at Avanti. We’d mix in some outdoor adventures like paddle boarding at Boulder Reservoir or a scenic drive up Flagstaff Mountain.
And of course, we’d make time for a relaxing afternoon at FLEX Stretch Therapy so they leave feeling amazing. The beauty of this area is that you can blend small-town charm, outdoor adventure, and great food all in one trip, and the people here are some of the friendliest you’ll meet.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d love to dedicate my shoutout to the incredible women in my networking group, GEMM, Genuine Entrepreneurs Moving Mountains. Being surrounded by strong, driven female entrepreneurs has been a constant source of inspiration, accountability, and encouragement. These women have celebrated my wins, shared their own lessons learned, and reminded me that building a business doesn’t have to be a solo journey. I also want to recognize my clients, who trust me with their health and mobility, each session is a reminder of why I love what I do. And finally, my husband Keith, whose unwavering belief in me and willingness to dive into my ideas (even the big, scary ones) has made all the difference in my growth as an entrepreneur.
