Meet Candice Ensign | Coach, Speaker, Published Author & Founder of Journey with Equus

We had the good fortune of connecting with Candice Ensign and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Candice, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The genesis of *Live Your Crazy* wasn’t a calculated business move—it was a calling born from the unraveling of the life I had built. In my 40s, after nearly two decades of marriage, I found myself standing at a crossroads, stripped of the identity I once knew. Who was I beyond the roles I had played? Where was I headed when the path I had walked for so long simply disappeared beneath my feet?
Life, as it often does, intervened in ways I never could have predicted. A series of events propelled me into an entirely new career—one I hadn’t sought out, yet one that would ultimately lead me to a revelation: I was meant for something more. As I stepped into this uncharted territory, I was met with skepticism, doubt, and the ever-present refrain: *”You’re crazy.”*
At first, those words unsettled me. But I soon realized they were a compass. If people tell you you’re crazy, if the road ahead is uncertain, if fear and excitement exist in equal measure—then you are exactly where you need to be. Purpose doesn’t come neatly packaged; it demands risk, resilience, and an unwavering belief that there is something greater waiting on the other side of fear.
That realization became the heartbeat of *Live Your Crazy*. It is more than a brand; it is a movement—one that invites people to step beyond self-doubt, reclaim their gifts, and share them with the world. Because when we choose to live fully, unapologetically, and in alignment with our truth, we don’t just transform our own lives—we ignite a ripple effect that has the power to heal the world, one person at a time.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
*Live Your Crazy* isn’t just a business—it’s a movement. A movement of purpose, courage, and unapologetic authenticity.
It is for those who feel lost, for the seekers standing at a crossroads, for the souls who know, deep down, that they were meant for something more. My work is about guiding people back to themselves, helping them rediscover the purpose they were born with, and equipping them with the courage to step into it fully.
Through women’s empowerment groups, private coaching—both in business and immersive personal transformation—and equine-partnered wellness programs, *Live Your Crazy* creates a space for individuals to unpack their trauma, break free from old narratives, and unearth their God-given gifts. Our lives leave breadcrumbs—clues hidden in our experiences, our passions, even our pain. When we learn to see them differently, we unlock the mystery of our true purpose.
Imagine a world where every person steps boldly into their calling, unafraid to share their gifts. A world where people are no longer trapped in the mundane but living authentically, unapologetically—fully and completely alive. The ripple effect would be immeasurable. This is what *Live Your Crazy* is about. One person at a time, we shift the world.
But let’s be clear—this journey has been far from easy. It is still not easy. Living in alignment with purpose demands faith. It requires stepping into the unknown, embracing fear, and moving forward even when every instinct tells you to retreat. The risks are real, and stepping out of your comfort zone will always be terrifying. But what is far more terrifying is the thought of living a life unlived, of breaking the promise I’ve made—to myself, to those I serve, and to the calling placed on my heart.
What I have learned is this: if you want to soar on the wings of purpose, you must first risk the fall. You must be willing to face fear head-on, to take the leap despite the uncertainty. And in doing so, you will lose people. Not everyone will understand your journey. Some will turn away, and others will lash out—because your courage will shine a light on their unwillingness to step into their own. But that is not your burden to carry. Growth demands release, and those who are meant to walk alongside you will rise to meet you.
I want the world to know this: you were born with a purpose. You have a choice—to answer that call or to ignore it. *Live Your Crazy* is about saying yes. Saying yes to the life you were meant to live. Saying yes to breaking the mold, to rewriting the story, to stepping fully into your authenticity—no apologies, no regrets.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting, I wouldn’t just show them the sights—I would immerse them in the heartbeat of my world. Life out here isn’t about the rush of the city or the glitter of high-rise skylines; it’s about the kind of beauty that doesn’t demand attention—it simply exists, waiting to be felt, breathed in, and experienced with all the senses.
Day One: A Welcome from the Wild Ones
We would begin where my soul is rooted—*Journey with Equus*. More than just a sanctuary, it is a mission—a movement to raise awareness of the profound gifts horses have to give outside of being ridden. Through *equine-partnered wellness*, we help people uncover healing, truth, and the power of being fully present. Home to 95 rescued souls, this land is sacred, a testament to resilience and redemption. My friend would meet these horses, feel the quiet strength in their presence, and perhaps, without even realizing it, leave carrying a piece of their wisdom.
Day Two: Savoring the Simple Pleasures
For breakfast, we would visit *Catalina’s*, a local gem where the food is hearty, the salsa is homemade, and the kind of service that feels like family is served alongside every plate. Their menu is full of hidden treasures, but their pizza? Unexpectedly incredible. Crispy, cheesy, with just the right balance of flavors—it’s the kind of slice you don’t forget.
For dinner, we’d indulge in the smoky perfection of *Sammie D’s BBQ*, where the burnt ends melt in your mouth, and the fries are the kind of crispy, golden indulgence that makes you forget everything else for a moment. It’s the kind of place where you eat with your hands, laugh too loud, and leave just a little happier than when you arrived.
And because no great day should end without something sweet, we’d take a detour to *Rose’s Creamery*, where homemade ice cream isn’t just a treat—it’s an experience. A scoop of *butter pecan*, rich and nutty, the kind of flavor that tastes like nostalgia. Or maybe we’d try something unexpected, like *watermelon*, part of their rotating lineup of special flavors that keep you coming back for more.
Day Three: Chasing Waterfalls & Finding Perspective
Colorado is a land of breathtaking contrasts, and no visit would be complete without stepping into its wild heart. *Castlewood Canyon* would be our next stop—a place where the world quiets, and the air is thick with pine and possibility. We’d hike the trails, letting our steps find rhythm with the rustling trees and the distant rush of the waterfall. There’s something about standing before falling water that reminds you of life’s constant movement—of how even in the descent, there is beauty, power, and purpose.
Days Four Through Seven: The Open Road Beckons
From there, we would do what my partner and I love most—venture further, let the road take us where it wants. The Western Slope calls with its sprawling vineyards, deep canyons, and hot springs hidden like secrets waiting to be discovered. We’d soak in the mineral-rich waters of *Avalanche Ranch*, our personal favorite—a place where time slows, the mountain air is crisp, and the healing warmth of the springs seeps into your bones.
Maybe we’d wind through the twisting roads of Independence Pass, where every turn opens up a new kind of wonder. Maybe we’d find a quiet café in a small town, linger over coffee, and let the conversation stretch as long as the afternoon.
The adventure wouldn’t be about checking boxes or rushing through an itinerary. It would be about the moments—the sun slipping below the horizon in hues of fire and gold, the wind whipping through an open window on a backroad, the kind of laughter that comes when time slows down and you’re exactly where you’re meant to be.
That’s the beauty of Colorado. That’s the magic of *Living Your Crazy*. It’s about embracing the unplanned, the wild, the deeply real. And when the week was over, my friend wouldn’t just have memories—they’d have a piece of something bigger. A piece of the life I love, the land I cherish, and the freedom that comes with fully, unapologetically living.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Where do I even begin? No journey is ever walked alone, and mine has been paved by the unwavering love, support, and belief of so many.
First and foremost, my parents—without them, I would not be the woman I am today. They laid the foundation, instilled the values, and gave me the strength to stand tall in the face of adversity. To those who have walked beside me, who have seen me not just as I am but as who I am meant to be—thank you. Thank you for embracing my *crazy*, for encouraging the fire within me rather than extinguishing it.
To the two men who hold my heart in ways words cannot truly capture—my son, Dalton, and my partner, George. Life simply wouldn’t hold the same meaning without you. Living my *crazy* alongside you both is the greatest gift, and every moment shared is a testament to the power of love, partnership, and purpose.
To every opportunity, every open door, and every person who has allowed me to shine my own light—thank you. And to the horses… my eternal teachers, my soul’s refuge, my guiding light. From the time I was three years old until this very moment, you have carried me—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. You have illuminated my path through the darkest nights, whispered truths no human could ever teach, and anchored me in a purpose greater than myself. It is because of you, and for you, that I continue this journey.
So, this is my shoutout to all of you—those seen and unseen, past and present. You are woven into the very fabric of my story, and because of you, I am truly *Living My Crazy*.
