Meet Carrie Summers | Broker/Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Carrie Summers and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Carrie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
As a single Mom of 3 kids, I knew I needed to do something to get out of my funk. I started helping out with Adaptive Sports to get my mind off of my junk. I quickly realized that my passion is to help others. God made it very clear that I was to become a Realtor. I was the 2012 Rookie of the Year for the Durango Association of Realtors, and then after my second year, I knew I wanted to focus on the Mancos area so I started my own company. What an amazing game changer!
I have the privilege of making a difference in someone’s life each day. I become one of the family for a couple of months for a client and then this evolves to lifelong friends.
One time, I got a call that someone I knew was struggling. I was able to help him get his home ready to sell, help him with day to day living, deal with a gun collection and have several garage sales. Since his family was back east, I was invaluable to them. Super tough to help someone realize that they needed to sell, and go into assisted living, however I am very happy that I made a bad situation better for all.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Since January 2022, I have expanded my business! I now have 3 Realtors working for me. Having lived in the area for 31 years, I have a wealth of knowledge and connections. People call me to ask for recommendations on builders, pet sitters, cleaners, you name it or just stop by to chat. I love becoming everyone’s trusted advisor.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If you are in Downtown Mancos, have breakfast at Absolute Bakery. The “Stack” is amazing with the green chile. Then come on by my 1897 office building at 145 Grand Avenue, and check out the Mancos Museum. From old mining equipment, cowboy stuff and beautiful wedding dresses from Wetherill’s who discovered Mesa Verde, the museum is a must see.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to the Mancos community! Raising 3 kids is quite challenging, plus starting my own company. If needed, I could call on my neighbors at 2:30am to help, and they wouldn’t think twice about coming. My parents taught me all about hard work, and how to listen. I love learning about my clients and helping them make wise decisions.
