Meet Casey Van Horn: Owner and Photographer of Two One Photography

We had the good fortune of connecting with Casey Van Horn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Casey, how do you think about risk?
For me, risk-taking is a must. The best things in my life have come because I pushed through my fears and took that risk. I believe the key to growth is going through adversity and working as hard as I can to take that risk and make myself better. I am a strong believer in following my heart and if it feels right jump in. I didn’t have a lot of experience in photography when I began my company 11 years ago. I just knew it was something I should be doing. I learned as much as I could, took my camera everywhere, and took any shoot I could, most were at no charge. At that point, I had a full-time job so I knew that if photography didn’t work out I could stay there or find another path. I started booking more and my company took off. I took the jump to make photography full time and had faith that if I put myself out there and tried as hard as I could it would work out. One of my favorite quotes it, “The biggest risk a person can do is to do nothing.” I believe that every risk I take leads me to where I am supposed to be. If it doesn’t work out it will take me to another path I am supposed to be on. I knew in my heart that I was supposed to take a risk as a wedding photography and run with Two One Photography. The risk of starting this business has helped me find my life’s passion and my company has become successful. One of my favorite parts about what I do is that I get to capture special moments that others can cherish forever.

What should our readers know about your business?
Two One Photography is a wedding/family/ lifestyle photography company based in Denver, CO We began in 2009 and have photographed over 600 weddings and over 2000 shoots. What sets us a part and makes us most excited about what we do is capturing moments and memories for peoples lives. Whether it’s a full wedding, family shoot or lifestyle shoot we are capturing a moment in time and someone’s story. I get to do this business with my sister in law, Vanessa Miranda, who is also an amazing photographer with Two One and my mother, Karen Wigotow, who has been there every step of the way. Two One is where we are because of our love for getting to know people and making time to understand what they want and capturing that in photographs. We want to capture their vision and who they are. That is what has made us successful. Two One is going on it’s 11th year and as everyone in business knows it takes time to build a base, get your name out there and book clients. Every year we grow a little more. I have learned along the way is to jump out of a comfort zone and network, get to know people and put myself out there. One of the biggest things I have learned with this pandemic and what we want the world to know about our brand is that being with your loved ones is the most important part of life. Things can happen so fast. Being a photographer let’s us capture moments with loved ones, smiles, laughter, tears and people being together. At the end of our lives the things that matter the most are memories so we want to capture that so people can see a photo and go back in time to a memory.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would have them stay downtown near Union Station. If it’s summer they should rent some bikes and do a bar crawl and then hit up a Rockies game or a show at Red Rocks. If it’s winter they go up to the mountains for a ski day and to Apres ski. My fav restaurant is Postino, love that wine!
