We had the good fortune of connecting with SAMMIE G and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi SAMMIE G, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
The quote I live by and have built my business mantra around is “Keep Going.” For me, these two words are more than just a saying—they’re a way of life. Coming from New Orleans, where the odds can be tough and giving up is a tempting option, “Keep Going” became my rallying cry. It’s something I hold onto in both my business and personal life.
“Keep Going” is about shifting your mindset to stay positive, patient, and resilient. Whether you’re navigating your career, personal challenges, or just the ups and downs of everyday life, this mantra helps you push through. Change is tough, but it’s also necessary for growth, and “Keep Going” reminds us to embrace it.
Living in Colorado Springs now, I carry that same spirit with me. No matter what obstacles come my way, I’ve learned to keep moving forward. It might sound simple, but that’s its power. Embracing “Keep Going” helps you unlock potential you didn’t even know you had.
One of my newest projects is “Keep Going 3,” the third album in a series that embodies this philosophy. We’ve also created merchandise, like hats, that proudly display “Keep Going.” It’s a way to share this message with others and remind them to stay the course.
I’m also excited about my upcoming book, “Keep Going: The Mindset,” which will be released alongside the album. Our whole company lives by this mantra, believing that as long as you’re alive, you have to keep going. Life can throw some serious curveballs, but with a positive mindset and determination, you can overcome anything.
So, whether you’re a friend, a fan, or just someone who stumbled upon this, remember: Keep Going. We’re all in this together, and I’m right there with you, pushing forward every step of the way.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started making music when I was just a kid. You know how it is when you’re young—full of dreams and energy. I always had a knack for rapping and performing. People would gather around and beg me to rap or sing, and it just felt right. But as I got older, I realized that making it in the music world wasn’t going to be a walk in the park.
Coming from New Orleans, where music flows through the streets but opportunities can be scarce, I knew I had to be more than just another rapper. I didn’t want to end up a starving artist. So, I decided to pivot. I started Trxpster back in 2012, not just as an outlet for my own music, but as a platform to help others with their art too.
Fast forward ten years, and what began as a personal project has blossomed into something incredible. We’ve got a recording studio, a creative space, and even a music festival. Along the way, I learned some valuable lessons about what works and what doesn’t. The most important one? Stay true to yourself. It wasn’t until I let go of self-doubt that I could really move forward. You see, I always knew what I wanted to do, but the path only became clear when I started walking it.
Of course, it wasn’t always easy. There were plenty of challenges. I couldn’t afford studio time, so I learned to engineer my own tracks. I didn’t know any photographers, so my buddy Rashid and I bought a camera and figured it out ourselves. Over the years, we’ve built a community I call our “Core 300 Trxpsters.” These are our dedicated supporters, our family. Whenever I drop a new track or host an event, they show up and show love, just like family does.
What sets us apart is our focus on community. In an industry that often rewards the same old thing, we chose to take risks and do something different. I don’t see myself just as a rapper or a performer. I see myself as a Renaissance man, someone who understands the importance of bringing people together.
I do not believe you need anyone’s permission to start making money from your art. You need a vision and a strong work ethic. You have to care about your community just as much as you care about gaining new fans. People support what they care about. For a long time, I felt unseen and unheard, but I realized that people need to see your vision clearly. If you took me to a forest, I’d see a thriving town or community. Some might see just trees, but it’s all about the vision and the people you surround yourself with.
I’ve had to restart and walk this path many times, but every restart was a chance to learn and grow. It’s a beautiful thing to have a passion for something. No matter what you’re chasing, stay passionate about the journey. Start fresh every day, and remember, as long as you’re alive, you have another chance to feel bliss. So keep going, my friends, and enjoy the ride.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to Colorado Springs, we’d start with Garden of the Gods. We’d hike through those iconic red rock formations, taking in the breathtaking views. Then, I’d take them snowboarding in Breckenridge. Im a New Orleans man at heart so we are cooking and eating at home.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, I wouldn’t be here today without my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Without God, I wouldn’t have such strong faith and determination to do what’s right and strive to be the best version of myself.
Outside of Jesus Christ, my mother always told me I could be anything I wanted to be. Her unwavering belief in me has been a constant source of strength. My father gave me the freedom and approval to be myself from an early age, and for that, I am forever grateful.
My siblings Aneka, Ariel, Rashond, and Savion have always motivated me to strive for greatness, not just for myself but to take care of our family. Their support and love have been a driving force in my journey.
I’ve also been blessed with a long-time friend and music assistant, Rashid Paul, who helps me out with day-to-day tasks and keeps me grounded. My business partners, Dan Aronovich and Dezmon Deleon, have dedicated their time and energy to my goals, dreams, and aspirations. You truly can’t make it far without a team that genuinely cares about you.
Every step of my journey has been shaped by these incredible individuals, and I’m grateful to have them in my corner. Their support means the world to me, and I’m thankful for the love and encouragement they provide every day.
