We had the good fortune of connecting with Cassandra and Dianne and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cassandra and Dianne, what are you inspired by?
As true crime podcasters and the crowded genre that we are in, we stay inspired from the victims being voiceless and how advocating for them along with their families and loved ones. We are drawn to cases not well known and being from complicated backgrounds ourselves, it is personal. We want to be podcasters with a heart and draw out the broken into a place of feeling empowered.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My mother has a background teaching and in education and has always been a creative artistic woman with a thirst for knowledge and as her daughter, I was taught from an early age that same quality. I pursued an art degree with culinary so I am my mother’s daughter! We love to grow, share and pour our passions into podcasting because it takes creativity and discipline.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Living in Colorado, our hearts take us to the mountains. The hikes and trails are endlessly peaceful and thought provoking. The most beautiful hike would be to Devil’s Peak which can be roughly a three-hour hike and the the year we hiked was during a massive ladybug influx. When we reached the final peak with the hot sun and sweat baring down on us, we reached an enclave with trees and shade! The ladybugs flew around us everywhere, landing in our hair and covering rock walls. It was magical. We love paddleboarding near Grand Lake and enjoying the Summer lake swimming months along with getting some Boba Tea from Kung Foo Tea and having good conversations with my kids.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many amazing people who have helped grow and develop us! Coming from a family who migrated from Korea and teaching us a hard work ethic has been a pinnacle to how we view success. Teaching and growing us through our failures and coining the term: work hard like an immigrant. Even though our life here is so blessed with opportunity, we will never forget our heritage and their sacrifices to GIVE us this chance… leaving their own culture and nation to escape poverty and choose freedom for their great-grandchildren. We are here and we remember them today.
