We had the good fortune of connecting with Char Montana and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Char, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting my own business was to share to the world my talent, creativity, passion, and nevertheless becoming my own boss. I love to express myself through fashion, beauty, and creating content that motivates and inspires others to be the best version of themselves. From creating empowerment platforms, to running clothing brands, and enlightening fellow entrepreneurs and influencers like myself has allowed me to bring my visions to life, and share them with the world.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The best part of being a creative is having the ability to not only showcase your talents but also express them in innovative ways. Fashion has always been a passion of mine since a child. My clothing brand, “Dirty South Calabasas” allows me to embrace this passion by showcasing streetwear fashion giving it southern culture with a mix of luxury flavor.
My empowerment platform “The Black Girl Haven” also is a safe space for the everyday black girl to flourish and be carefree. This platform motivates and empowers black women to be unapologetically themselves, embraces melanin magic, and promotes positive sisterhood vibes for the culture.
My social media platform alone has allowed me to motivate and assist fellow entrepreneurs and influencers like myself to reach their highest potential. With my social media agency “Elite Horizons”, I plan to empower, inspire, and educate creators on how to achieve their goals and thrive in the social media industry.
There are so many lessons I’ve learned along the way with becoming a creative, influencer, and business owner. To get to where I am today professionally is simply by not GIVING UP. I am so proud of how far I’ve come and where my journey is going. Nothing is easy, or comes easy. Everyone faces challenges along the way. If I were to give any advice it would be to remain consistent in your craft, continue to dream hard, but work even harder. Never limit yourself for YOU are your ONLY limitation. Be your best self, and continue to show up everyday as just that.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am from Georgia, but when it comes to traveling back and forth to Denver my most recent favorite spots are Denver Biscuit Company for a good brunch. I love the mimosas, and shrimp and grits! I’ve also fell in love with TK’s Surf and Turf Kitchen which offers a variety of seafood options full of flavor!
When it comes to hanging out there is so much to do in Denver so I would check out any local events that’s going on and head out because there is always something to do from checking out the views at Red Rocks, to local concerts, pop ups, day and nightlife events, to even having a picnic in the park and just vibe!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to thank everyone who shows me constant love and support, from family, customers and clientele, and fellow people who’s been following my journey. I’m forever grateful.
