We had the good fortune of connecting with Chaz Miles and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chaz, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit. Even as a kid selling lemonade or mowing lawns, I always wanted to be my own boss. So when it was actually possible as an adult I June’s on it.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I do music for a living. I am the frontman of a band called Run51 under the Dream Records/Capitol Records imprint and I also do my own solo music. I am also passionate about telling stories through film. I have written and directed multiple music video, short film and feature length projects. What sets me apart is my passion for creating art that inspires people. To make them feel good and escape. Also to tell stories that make the underrepresented feel seen and heard. Underrepresented people, underrepresented stories. All of this is very challenging in a world that isn’t always an even playing field, but I’ve learned that hard work and resilience are incredible gifts that help you overcome.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well there are a lot of great local spots in Colorado. If we are in Denver I would take them to Chubbys or La Loma for some Mexican food. If we are in my hometown of Pueblo, we definitely are hitting up Passkey, Doo Drop or Jorges. Maybe go catch a game at Blake Street Tavern.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shout out to my mother for always instilling in me that I could be and do anything I wanted to. As and adult I realize how important her support was throughout my teenage and young adult years!
