Meet Chazz Glaze | thought & movement coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chazz Glaze and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chazz, what role has risk played in your life or career?
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been pushing myself to the limits of my comfort zone…and beyond. Beyond the adventure of it all, I discovered something invaluable: I can trust myself to have my own back.
From being the first person in my family to go to college and figuring out out-of-state tuition to moving halfway across the country to a state I’d never even visited because I just KNEW I wanted to live there to leaving a “secure” job to start my own business, I have had to show the hell up. I had to put in the work. I had to remind myself of my why when it got hard. I had to promise myself I’d make the best of any outcome that resulted.
Now, this is my life’s work as a coach: to help others learn to have their own backs so they can take risks and reap the rewards. To know how to evaluate the payoff from the investment, whether it’s worth it in the first place. To play big and win big.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’m a former English teacher turned neuro-linguistic practitioner & fitness expert on a mission to help my clients become the bad a** they were born to be.
As a thought & movement coach, I work with multi-passionate individuals to get in kick-a** shape AND transfer that to kicking a** in life. My approach is not just about fixing one aspect of your life; it’s about a holistic transformation. I believe that when you align your mind, body, and language, you become an unstoppable force.
I knew at 25 I wanted to be a “life coach,” but I didn’t think anyone would listen to someone so young…and I didn’t even know where to begin. So, instead I pursued a lot of seemingly random avenues in health & wellness, including nutrition, group exercise, personal training, diabetes education, community health education, and cooking. I understood on a very personal level the role that movement and good fuel played in my own well-being, but I still felt limited in my ability to help others, mostly because I wasn’t speaking to the any of the other (essential) areas of their life–like relationships, creativity, finances, sexuality, and spirituality. Yet I knew the role of all these things in my own life. Especially as a former teacher and poet, I knew the value of words in creating your reality.
When I made the transition from nutrition & fitness into holistically coaching individuals on their whole life, it was initially easy transition. People knew me and the work we’d done together and wanted to go deeper.
But when I decided to go full time in coaching and leave behind my breadwinning gig as a bartender, it wasn’t quite so easy. On the first “official” day of being a solopreneur, I ended the 2-year relationship I’d been in, had to deal with a neighbor on a meth binge, the person I’d just broken up with was in a car accident, and my grandma died. ALL IN 24 HOURS.
It was in that moment that I had to make a decision: to go back to what was comfortable, known, and easy; to coach part time while making money in other ways or to keep going, trusting I had my own back, would figure it out along the way. Being willing to sit in the discomfort of that time is what led me to be here now, 11 months in and having just signed my first international client.
And it’s what has helped me guide my clients to be able to sit in their own uncomfortable times of transition and teach them how to relax into it, embracing the discomfort instead of resisting it, knowing it is a part of the journey.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wouldn’t be where I am today if it weren’t for my grandma. From the money she “lent” me for college (and refused to let me pay back) to the care packages, gift cards, and weekly handwritten cards, her love and support were invaluable in my journey. She put food in my belly when I was hungry and a smile on my face when I was stressed. And she showed me what it meant to be a strong, independent woman. Even though she passed in 2020, I still feel her with me, continuing to support me and guide me from the other side.
