We had the good fortune of connecting with Chelsea Brinkley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chelsea, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting my own business happened by accident at first. I left my corporate job and started working freelance as an executive assistant to a few entrepreneur clients because I wanted to work remotely and have a lot of the freedoms and flexibility in my schedule that corporate life simply didn’t accommodate. My clients recommended me to some of their friends but I didn’t have the bandwidth to take it all on so I ended up connecting them instead with some executive assistants I knew. I realized after doing this a few times this was something that was definitely needed for entrepreneurs and that’s where the Virtual Assistant Matchmaking segment of my business was born. Since then, there have been a ton of processes put in place so it’s now a well-oiled machine where we get to help entrepreneurs and the freelance virtual assistant/executive assistant as well. It’s a lot of fun getting to connect amazing people together and see the difference it can make when people work in their strengths.
From this, the business has grown quickly serving this particular market and I’ve been able to add in other segments as well like system optimization. This came from recognizing a lot of entrepreneurs really needed to get their systems and operations in place before they could effectively bring on an executive assistant. In addition, I also do coaching for how to work best with remote team members and consulting on what systems and processes need to be put into place for an entrepreneur’s business to scale (I call this system audits).
All in all, my entire business started from seeing a need and acting on it.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m a solopreneur passionate about helping other entrepreneurs, coaches, consultants, and freelancers create efficient businesses. I do that through virtual executive assistant matchmaking, system optimization (creating systems, workflows, and processes for their businesses), and acting as a remote work coach and consultant.
I’m most proud of being able to make a difference in other business owners lives by helping them gain more freedom and flexibility. When I match an executive assistant with an entrepreneur who so badly has needed to delegate some work so they aren’t stressed and overwhelmed anymore, I can see first hand how it’s a win/win for both of them. And when I’m able to put systems and processes in place for business owners so things run smoother and it therefore makes their lives easier, it brings me so much joy. I love being able to do work that matters and use my gifts to help others.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My husband and I both work remotely and because of that, we love to work and travel all around the world. It was important for us to create a home base somewhere though so for us that’s a cabin in the mountains outside Denver, Colorado. We love how secluded and peaceful it is but that means there isn’t much around us other than grocery stores. We go into the city often though so here are some of our favorite spots!
Food & drinks: Work & Class, Snooze for breakfast/brunch, Root Down, Postino, Machete
Just drinks and hang outs: Cooper Lounge, Cruise Room, brewery hopping (Blue Moon and Great Divide are a couple of favorites), Ramble hotel bar (and go to the upstairs bar too)
Hang out: Of course Red Rock Amphitheater especially if there is a show, walk around to check out the cool street art/graffiti, and probably hiking! Some favorite trails are Roxborough State Park, Silver Dollar Lake, Mt. Evans, Mt, Falcon (west trailhead), Loch Lomond Trail.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people who deserve a shoutout for helping me get to where I am today in my business and I know I wouldn’t be successful without them. I could write paragraphs about each person and how much they mean to me but to keep this on the shorter side I’ll just list them out:
