We had the good fortune of connecting with Chelsie Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chelsie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I started my own business, I was working full time hours for a bank. I went into it blind and wasn’t sure what would come of it. My husband was a huge part of this decision & if I’m being honest, he was the reason I started. I knew going into it, day 1, if I wanted to make something of myself and this business, I had to go all in. I knew once I started, quitting wasn’t an option.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started my journey as an entrepreneur with one makeup brush. I was not someone who invested in her skin. I started my business with no following on social media, and didn’t have a friend’s circle. To be honest, I was probably the last person you would expect to start this business. But, it was tugging on my heart so I decided to go for it. I just celebrated five years as a makeup & skincare educator. It’s taken hours, days, weeks, and years, to grow my business. But, it’s more than a business, I’m growing a brand– beautyofbudget. This has been one of the hardest journeys I’ve been on in my 30 years of life. People assume working for yourself is incredible, easy, and so free…and as much as it can be all of those, it’s incredibly hard. Entrepreneurs rely on themselves to build a brand, customer base, content, and everything in between for their business. I’ve learned to fail forward. I’ve learned that comfort is the enemy of progress and there will be challenges everyday. But, what sets me apart is, I’ve never quit. I’ve never given up on myself, or my dreams.

I’ve branded myself as the BEAUTYOFBUDGET. When people think of my brand, they will know to expect to find beauty on my page. Whether beauty comes from wearing makeup, or wearing a face of skincare, beauty comes from within and I help others uncover their inner confidence. Whether it’s fashion, travel, or basic essentials, my followers know they can find the best budget deals on my platform. The key is to never pay full price.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Nebraska is family oriented, education strong, hard working state. When you come here, expect to see A LOT of corn fields! If visiting for a week, I would highly recommend Valentine, NE for a few days for scenic views. A couple places I recommend for eating would be the exclusive to Nebraska, Valentino’s for delicious pizza. I would also recommend grabbing a Runza which is also an exclusive fast food dining experience for Nebraska. My favorite place to be in town is our Historic Haymarket and is full of dining experiences and night life. We also have the Telephone Museum which was featured in the movie Yes, Man! This is a college town so if you come during HUSKER football season, attending a tailgate and game is a MUST!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shoutout LimeLife by Alcone for giving me my start in entrepreneurship and developing my brand. The most important shoutout would be to my husband, who encouraged me to start. Over 5 years I started my entrepreneurship and this wouldn’t have been possible with his support, going along with my ideas, and continuing to remind me to work hard even on the days I don’t have the motivation to.
