We had the good fortune of connecting with Chianne Coffman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chianne, what’s one piece of conventional advice that you disagree with?

I felt so defeated when a client left a project we were working on together for months with an email, “It’s just business.”

After putting hours of creative work into this project, with several rounds of edits, I was feeling we were close to a final decision. Then I was slapped with an email that they were going forward with another graphic designer. The email was short and sweet, but begged for a phone call which they did not answer. Poof, our relationship suddenly dissolved.

It was at this point in my career that I had a mindset change in the way I would choose to proceed with building my business. I would work hard to ensure my employees and clients never felt that our work together was a transaction. I am passionate about creating artwork for my clients that they love and celebrate for the rest of their lives. What I do matters! Each employee I have and every client I get to serve is treated with the highest level of care.

Truth is, it’s never “just business”, I believe success is built on a company’s ability to build quality relationships with the people they get to work with and serve.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

Chy Creative is a boutique graphic design and photography business located in Windsor, CO. Unlike any other photographer in our area, I specialize in creating heirloom custom wall art from the portraits I capture! My degree is in graphic design which gives my clients the best of both worlds when it comes to beautifully designed artwork for their homes. Chy Creative raises the bar when it comes to out-of-the-box ideas. Often times we create our props from scratch like our Artemis-inspired deer horn headpiece used for an exclusive senior session or our giant 4foot white cube box that we used for our covid-friendly take on photos with Santa. Just this year Chy Creative hosted our first annual tween empowerment event, Glow Getters™. This event was the largest of ideas in which tween girls applied to join and were inspired to follow their dreams. Each young lady was photographed in my studio and then I hand-illustrated them into their dream. Parents were able to purchase large artwork specifically designed for their daughter and her unique dream. More of each of these projects can be found on my website at www.chycreative.com.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

I have lived in Northern Colorado over 30 years and I would not want to live anywhere else. I love my community of Windsor, CO. We have an amazing Chamber of Commerce full of highly creative and successful entrepreneurs. Our downtown is full of small boutiques that make for a great day of shopping. When I get the chance to do this, I love stopping into the The Hearth or Chimney Park for a happy hour and yummy appetizer. Also, if there is time for a day trip, one of my favorite little hole-in-the-wall places is Seven Keys Lodge just outside of Estes Park. This place in a cozy in with handcrafted cocktails, the coolest owners and the world’s largest key collection. We often photograph up in this area just so we can treat our clients at the end of their session to a yummy charcuterie board and cool atmosphere. Last, Northern Colorado is full of live music, bike paths, beautiful landscapes, and activities. Really, a day spent here is not a day wasted.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I highly believe in lifting others as you climb, and for me, I have had many people cross my path who have brought inspiration. I was raised by a single mom who worked several jobs to make ends meet. Seeing her persevere through times of heartache and seasons of poverty gave me purpose to overcome challenges. My husband, who is also an entrepreneur, told me early on that owning my business would be rewarding, but also that no one would care about it the way I did. This idea armed me with the power to make grounded decisions during challenging times. My mentor, who has made a name for herself as a top-selling photographer with the PPA, has given me the roadmap to serve my clients at the highest level while running a successful 6-figure small business. Also, by my side is my studio manager who supports decisions I make and helps me set boundaries on my time to sustain our core value of “family first”. And last, my children who remind me every day that life moves fast, we all need to slow down and enjoy the giggles.
