We had the good fortune of connecting with Christina Cline and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christina, what inspires you?
Being in a creative field, the thing that inspires me and drives me in my work is natural raw emotion from my clients. it can be such a little thing such as your partner pushing your hair out of your face from the wind, your child looking up at you as you embrace them, or the look of strength as you think about your future. There is a deep connection under the surface that I like to draw out and capture on camera. Those candid moments are what elicits an emotion for a lifetime. Inspiration comes in the form of real life and real moments for me.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My first career started in the medical field as a registered nurse. Photography started as a hobby in the form of landscape photography and my love of Ansel Adams. Over the years my experience included taking images of seniors and families. That’s when my passion for emotive storytelling sprouted. I decided to dive headfirst into a photography career and have never looked back. With any new change, there are always lessons and challenges, especially with starting a small business. With guidance and research you learn to overcome those challenges. I still feel everyday I learn something new in this industry, and isn’t that what life is about is learning something everyday and growing. One thing about me that I feel I inherited from my Father, is that when I do something, I do it 100%, all in. I take huge pride in the bold and vibrant art I am creating. My goal with my photography is to get individuals and families outdoors in this beautiful landscape we have here in Colorado and get raw, real moments captured of them. I want to elicit an emotion every time you look back at your images.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them of course to the beautiful locations Colorado has! A day in Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park to visit some of the most stunning landscapes in the world. Sitting and enjoying live music in their park. A day at Mount Princeton soaking in the hot springs, then traveling up the road to visit St. Elmo and the chipmunks. You have to feed the adorable chipmunks and let them run all over you! A day in Manitou Springs walking around enjoying the shops and stopping at Front Range Barbeque for some of the most delicious food ever! A day in my local area enjoying fishing at Pueblo Reservoir or Arkansas River followed by a downtown stroll at the Riverwalk and the best Mexican Food anywhere! A day in Westcliffe enjoying the mountain trails, fishing Lake Deweese and visiting wonderful people in the stores and at Chappy’s Mountain View Bar and Grill. The view of the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range is amazing and so peaceful and serene.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My success and direction comes from two separate places. The first is my family, who are my backbone and biggest cheerleaders. Their support and encouragement has been unwavering. My daughter has been my muse and documenting her day to day life has been a real passion of mine. The second is my mentor Theresa Sherron from Alaska. Her guidance, support and enthusiasm for this art form is a huge part of why I am where I am.
