Meet Christopher Moore | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Christopher Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christopher, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have had a lot of jobs in the past. Each one I was up for a promotion, and I was ALWAYS told by my peers and acquaintances and bosses that I’m smart and I have a lot of potential only to be fired, let go, or have to leave for one reason or another. I kept asking myself why I’m not seeing the success when so many others see it in me. I finally realized that, why waste all my energy on someone else’s interest just to be told I’m working too hard because it’s making the other looks bad. I can really work, and I figured I should turn that energy inward and focus on my own path. This has really opened my mind to many possibilities in life.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve come from very dark places. Abuse and violence were common in my younger years. It has made finding a identity for myself and my brand incredibly difficult. However, I like to approach it with empathy and understanding for others and a very open mind. I’m constantly on the hunt for the next beautiful photo. I think each photo I take is trying to capture an emotion or a vibe. I want my photos to be personal to everyone and I want them to be felt and not just seen. I want to bring those deep feelings into the light. These concepts are hard to put into words. And I believe that may be a big reason why I capture photos in the first place. The medium doesn’t matter as long as I can express myself in ways that I fear I cannot otherwise communicate.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would start with a morning hike at Lory State Park. There are beautiful views overlooking not just the city but the whole county! After building up an appetite I would take us to First Watch to grab a beautiful brunch. Then we would head over to The Foothills Mall or perhaps the oldtown square for some shopping. Fort Collins has a ton of wonderful shops and markets for local goods. We would then go to New Belgium Brewery to grab a nice cold beer. and just hang out for a while. After that, we might go into Old Town again and hit up Tony’s or Trailhead to get something a little stronger. We might just end the night at the Waffle house.
The next day we would get up late and go to Cafe Mexicali for a huge, smothered burrito to nurse any hangovers. Then head over to the Fort Collins Museum or Discovery.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There a just a couple of people in my life that I owe everything too. These two people have supported me in some of the hardest times of my adult life.
This would have literally not happened without my mother. I have not been very close to my mother after the age of 14 or 15. But after a breakup with who I thought was the love of my life she took me in and allowed me a place to get back on my feet. She noticed how hard I work, and she was willing to fund me even though she had very little to give.
The second person I want to thank is my beautiful girlfriend Quatia Thompson. She has helped more than I can describe. She has given me so much freedom to chase my dreams as well as given me a chance to see where my potential will take us. She is a huge part of the business! From posting, updating, or modeling, whether she’s behind the scenes or in front she is incredibly smart and talented and huge support in my life. She is truly the rock I needed in my life.
