Meet Christy Belz | Author, Podcaster & Leadership Coach and Consultant

We had the good fortune of connecting with Christy Belz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christy, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Honestly, it came from a mix of necessity and calling. I was in a career that looked good on paper, but it didn’t feel like me. I kept hearing this inner voice saying, there’s more you’re meant to do. I had spent years in sales and then social work, listening to people’s stories, noticing patterns, and realizing that so many of us were carrying the same questions: Am I enough? Am I living true to myself? What do I do with the second chance I’ve been given?
Starting my own business was my way of answering those questions—not just for myself, but for others. I wanted to create a space where people could strip away the masks, reconnect to who they really are, and lead with heart. It wasn’t about building a “perfect” business plan; it was about trusting that if I showed up with authenticity, courage, and the tools I’d gathered, the work would find its way.
My thought process was really this: if I could merge my head, my heart, and my purpose, then maybe I could help others do the same. And that’s been the foundation of my coaching and consulting work ever since.

What should our readers know about your business?
Empowerment Coaching and Consulting is all about helping people uncover the potential they already have within. What sets me apart is how I blend head and heart—using my background in sales, social work, leadership, and spirituality to guide people toward authentic growth. I don’t just offer strategies; I help people see and release the patterns that keep them stuck so they can step into who they truly are.
Getting here wasn’t easy. Like most entrepreneurs, I’ve had moments of doubt and challenge. What carried me through was remembering my “why” and practicing the same courage and resilience I ask of my clients. Every challenge has been a second chance to choose alignment over fear.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned along the way? Trust the process, lean on your people, and stop chasing perfection. Authenticity always opens more doors than trying to fit someone else’s mold.
At the end of the day, my brand is about reminding people they already have what they need inside them. We all get second chances, and those moments can be the most transformative of our lives.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If a best friend came to town for a week, I’d want them to experience the best of what Colorado has to offer—both the city and the mountains.
We’d start in Denver with a long brunch at Snooze or Root Down, because nothing says welcome like good food and good coffee. From there, I’d take them to explore RiNo for the art murals, unique shops, and maybe catch some live music in the evening. A stop at Union Station is always a must—it’s such a beautiful hub that shows off Denver’s mix of history and modern vibe.
No trip to Colorado is complete without heading to the mountains. I’d plan a few days in places like Estes Park or Breckenridge. We’d hike in Rocky Mountain National Park, soak up the scenery, and if it’s winter, maybe ski or snowboard. After a day outside, we’d relax with a local craft beer or glass of Colorado wine and sit by a fire—because connection happens best when you slow down.
Back in the city, I’d want them to experience Red Rocks—whether it’s a concert under the stars or just walking the amphitheater during the day, it’s pure magic. We’d also hit a few of my favorite hidden gems for food—maybe Linger for dinner with that amazing view, and definitely tacos somewhere local.
The itinerary wouldn’t just be about places, though—it would be about people. I’d introduce them to some of the inspiring folks in my Denver circle who are doing amazing things in business, community, and the arts. To me, that’s the real heart of Colorado: the landscape is stunning, but it’s the people that make it unforgettable.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’ve always believed none of us get anywhere alone, and my journey is no exception. My biggest shoutout goes to the women who’ve trusted me with their stories over the years—clients, colleagues, and friends. Their courage to be vulnerable and real has been my greatest teacher.
Closer to home, I’m deeply grateful for the Denver community that has been both a container and a catalyst for my work. Organizations like the Girl Scouts of Colorado, where I’ve had the honor of mentoring young women, remind me of the power of leadership and courage at every age. I’ve also been shaped by the countless nonprofits, universities, and community groups I’ve partnered with here. Denver has this unique spirit—people show up for one another, and that energy has fueled both my personal growth and my business.
Personally, a heartfelt shoutout goes to my circle of friends, teachers, and mentors who have walked this journey with me. They’ve lifted me in hard seasons, celebrated the wins, and reminded me who I am when I’ve forgotten. Their wisdom and encouragement have been just as essential to my success as any formal training or business strategy.
I also have to honor my mom. Losing her was one of the hardest chapters of my life, but it was also a turning point that deepened my purpose. Her spirit continues to remind me of resilience, love, and the power of second chances, which has become the heartbeat of my work.
And then there’s my family—my husband and my son—who’ve been my grounding force. They’ve cheered me on, challenged me when I needed it, and given me the space to step fully into this work. Without their encouragement and patience, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
Finally, I’d give a nod to the thought leaders and spiritual teachers who’ve helped shape my lens—people like Brené Brown, The Leadership Circle, and my work with Clarity International, and so many others who remind me that leadership rooted in authenticity, compassion, and courage is what truly changes lives.
