Meet Gregory Waldron | Independent Publisher

We had the good fortune of connecting with Gregory Waldron and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gregory, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
In 2022, I went through a series of personal tragedies in quick succession, and I came apart at the seams a bit. I quit my job of 30 years and knew I had to find a better way to approach life. Writing became a big part of my healing process, and I wound up meeting some other talented writers. I realized that I already had all of the skills necessary to publish books, and I decided to make a go of it as a business. Our fifth title will be released this September.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I say that Crooked Circle Press is doing it all wrong in order to find a new right. We are dedicated to showcasing exceptional writing regardless of genre, and we’re doing it our way. Nothing truly great ever looked like everything that came before it. We take chances. We make art.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh, I wouldn’t get anywhere near a city. The best parts of Colorado are unpaved. I’d take my friend to Garden of the Gods, Pikes Peak, Black Canyon of the Gunnison, Mesa Verde, Colorado National Monument, Grand Mesa, The Kit Carson County Carousel, and Kebler Pass if it’s foliage season. As for food, we’d have to stop at Golden Pine Chinese in Pine, Sweet Coloradough in Glenwood Springs, and Sherpa Cafe in Gunnison. I’d also love to take them to the Comanche Drive-In Theater in Buena Vista.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I owe where I am now to the support of my wife, the guidance of my therapist, and the existence of Medium.com.
