We had the good fortune of connecting with Chukwuka Adesokan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chukwuka, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I am inspired by hope. The possibility of a better tomorrow. I am inspired by the tenacity of those in less fortunate situations than myself. I am also inspired by Individuality and genuine creativity. I never take another persons perspective for granted.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I make music for lost souls. I’m no preacher, but my art speaks to those with open hearts. My versatility sets me apart from others…It is what has allowed me to experience so many genres of music. It makes the journey a lot more enjoyable because I don’t often feel restricted. Trials and tribulations led me to the point I’m at right now. An extremely tedious experience that required resilience. It wasn’t easy. Applying pressure in the right places, and staying consistent contribute to the success I’ve seen. I learned that you shouldn’t put all your eggs in one basket…be patient. Good things come to those who wait. I want the world to know that my brand us all about empowerment. We do not want to own masters. We want you to master your own.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d take them downtown. We would eat at Greek Express, Taco Bell, Waffle House, Insomnia Cookies, Daves Hot Chicken (just to mention a few) We’d hit a few bars and play basketball/soccer on OSU campus.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I think Wesley Shelton deserves a huge shout out. Not only is he my friend, but he is the most resourceful person with a camera. We wouldn’t be where we are today without Wes.
