Meet Cloud 9ine KO | Artist/Songwriter & Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Cloud 9ine KO and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cloud 9ine, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting my own business is one of the best things i’ve ever done for myself. I quit my UPS job in 2017 and haven’t looked back ever since. I felt like I was taking control of my own destiny, and whether I succeeded or failed, it was entirely up to me. Years later, with the help of my amazing team, we have established a reliable brand, by being consistent and true to ourselves. It was hard and somewhat overwhelming in the beginning, but nothing in life is easy. There is no celebration without life’s challenges.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My music is a reflection of my life, Its a way for me to tell my story and feel like i’m being heard. What sets me apart from others is my dedication, I am a perfectionist that is always creating. When others are sleeping or enjoying the fruits of their labor, i’m still working. I am most excited about learning the business side of music. I think as an artist it is critical to learn everything you can in this industry, it will give you the best possibly chance of succeeding in the long run. In 2014, I released my first mixtape titled “Rare Breed Society” on websites like Datpiff & Hotnewhiphop. I released my second mixtape in that same year titled “#4starmovement” dedicated to my childhood friend who lost his life a couple months before.
2015, I shelved my third mixtape titled “Slum-Trill” due to sample clearances issues. Between 2015-2016 I was getting into a lot of trouble and also dealing with family issues. In 2017, I was sponsored by Cannabis Energy Drink, and became the face of their west coast division. Attending and performing at festivals such as Kush Stock & Earth Day. 2019, I released my first self produced EP titled “Eastside Story”. Then released “Life’s a Beach” that same year. In 2020, I released my third EP titled “Emotionless”. Later that year, CasperTheDot and I, debuted the youtube mixtape series titled “Vladimir”. 10 free songs released every week dedicated to the loyal listeners. At the end of 2020, I released my fourth self produced EP titled “Less Is More” reaching over 10,000 streams. Starting off 2021, I started releasing singles such as, “Birthday Song” with streams reaching over 45,000. Leading up to my first collaborated project with producer CozyEddie titled “On A Thursday” reaching near 25,000 streams. End of 2021, I released “8:17” dedicated to the loss of my father. Is considered to be a masterpiece by the critics. 2022, I released “Less Is More 2 EP” with streams over 20,000 and on June 4th, 2022 I released the album “Kene’s Son” on my father’s birthday. I lost a lot of people in 2021 but the biggest loss that im still dealing with is my father Kenneth Lewis and aunt Idella Carter. It hasn’t been easy, everyday I make time to take care of my mental health. I am excited about the projects I am currently working on, one of them being “On A Thursday 2”. I have been through a lot, but I want the world to know that Cloud 9ine KO is here to stay.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
People that know me, know im always at a studio. If I had to recommend some places to visit; I would say places like Il Pastaio and Fogo de Chao in Beverly Hills if you’re looking for gourmet food with great service. Or A&T burgers on Avalon in south central if you’re looking for homemade style food. I would also recommend the downtown LA shopping district area where many business owners go to buy wholesale.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First, I would like to shoutout my amazing team, who is more like family “No Tomorrow Entertainment”, they help keep me focused on whats needed. I would also like to thank; my father Kenneth “Ken Dog” Lewis, for always supporting me and my music. My great friend Zed Nammari for believing in me, and helping open up doors for my career. And last but not least, shoutout to all of my loyal listeners and supporters through all these years. I wouldn’t be here without you.
