We had the good fortune of connecting with Colby Ragghianti and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Colby, why did you pursue a creative career?
I pursued this path cause it was finally something that made me happy that I could do during my free time. My friends James Avalos and Joshua Cotto gave me a big inspiration to start doing photography. They taught me how to use a camera and show me all the details I could find when I take my shots. Now I have gone on to take hundreds of photos of my friends in the past few months which they have all just showed nothing but love and support which also drives me to continue this path.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
So right now I am still finding my touch/style to put on my photos that I take. I mostly just do street photography and just wonder around the city of Colorado Springs and find things that I just feel would look so good on a roll of film. I got to where I am today by just believing in myself, cause we all have are dark times but once we find our way out of that we can find what we truly are passionate about. I overcame a lot of personal challenges before I finally found photography. My buddies just kept telling me to pick up a camera and try it out and now its one of the most important things to me cause when I do it, its just pure happiness when I see the photo come out just how I saw it in my head. Some of the lessons I have learned is just not to give up, your time will come soon enough. If I could say one thing to the world, I would say just follow your dreams cause you really can be anything you want in this world if you work hard enough towards it.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to Manitou or Red Rocks Amphitheater to see a show . Those are my favorite places to go such as just hanging out at the penny arcade all day and grabbing some good food down there cause there are so many places to check out. Red Rocks is a must see if you come to Colorado the shows that you can experience there are just other worldly.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to all my friends cause without them I probably would have just given up on it. They really have showed me that I could make a career out of this if I just keep pushing towards that goal.
