We had the good fortune of connecting with Cory Clarke and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cory, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
For us, our philosophy has always been to work hard and pursue our dreams. This rings true in our creative endeavors, our careers, and our everyday lives. When you believe in something and you’re truly passionate about it, there’s neither an alternative nor a reason to ignore or feed that part of your soul. There’s always an opportunity to learn more, grow, adapt, and reinvent yourself and what you do. There’s no single benchmark for success, and most of the success stories we relate to are with the ones who didn’t give up when there might have been an easier route. There is no substitute for having the opportunity to incorporate your passions into your life’s work, and sharing that with others around the world provides a great sense of gratitude.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We’ve worked consistently over the past decade networking and connecting with our local community and beyond to build our brand, spread our message, and express ourselves through music and videography. Kind Dub was steadily progressing in all of our missions prior to the live music industry shut down due to the pandemic. Like many performing artists, we are looking forward to a new chapter and new approach to how we balance our artistic endeavors inside our careers. We’ve been able to overcome challenges along our journey with the help of our local community, fellow collaborators, friends, and family. Last year we took on a special project and crewed a World Record Attempt cross-America run with athlete The American Runner. He ran across the country on foot from San Francisco to NYC in 71 days to support the American Brain Foundation and spread awareness for mental health after we lost a best friend last April. Cody and I were the full-time crew and filmed a documentary along the way. Our new video production company Manifest Filmworks will be editing and producing a documentary telling the story. All of the experience we’ve gained building the Kind Dub brand has recently allowed us to branch out and launch two new production companies. Our work in the live music industry over the years has led us to provide professional services to other industries and brands we hadn’t before. Anything is possible when you keep an open mind and are willing to try something new in the face of adversity.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Anytime we have friends visit Fort Collins or Colorado in general, we enjoy taking them hiking, camping, biking to local breweries (Odell, Black Bottle, & Zwei are some of our local favorites), to great food spots (Colorado Room & Music City Hot Chicken), and seeing live music at The Mishawaka, The Aggie Theatre, and Washingtons to name a few. We like to spend time at Horsetooth, Lory State Park, and especially the Poudre Canyon.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We’d like to Shoutout Chris Bates, also known as Mightyfine Artist in Fort Collins, CO. He’s been a great friend and fellow creative in our scene and has helped us create much of the visual art that accompanies past album and merchandise releases. We’ve been long-time collaborators and supporters of his work. He’s a local muralist and visual artist that has amassed a large collection of public art around Colorado and has always supported our creative endeavors. He asked us to film a mini-doc of one of his recent mural projects prior to the pandemic, and he’s always been a pillar in the local art scene.
