We had the good fortune of connecting with DALINA HO and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi DALINA, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I graduated from the University of Central Florida right before the world shut down. I was working in litigation law shortly after graduation. I quit my job about a year later because I couldn’t deal with the micromanaging and toxic work environment any longer. I cried every single day for the next three months because I had no idea what I was doing and it was too soon to go back to the 9-5 lifestyle.
At the end of those three months, my lease ended and I knew now was the most perfect time to do something I had never done before, as I had nothing holding me back. If I am being honest, I never liked Florida ever since moving there from Arkansas in 2005. With that being said, I spontaneously moved halfway across the country to Colorado and started Islagant Co. Events & Design soon after settling in.
What should our readers know about your business?
I was the Maid of Honor turned wedding planner several years ago and coming from a family of entrepreneurs, I knew I wanted to own a business, but I wasn’t exactly sure what. I remember reaching out to one of my former bosses and telling him about my event planning journey and he said, “Dalina, this all just makes sense.”
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Garden of the Gods, because that is where everyone goes as a tourist. I’ve been there more times before I moved here than when I became a Colorado resident. Happy Camper is a place I always recommend to people visiting because of the aesthetic and vibes. Colorado is known for mountains, so I try to take people outside like on hikes/trails as long as the weather permits.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
If there is anyone, I owe it to myself.
