We had the good fortune of connecting with Dani Rodriguez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dani, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Long story short, my first job out of college was at a marketing agency. I was the social media guru, but got to a point where I didn’t want to be there anymore. I was itching for more freedom, truly. I pushed those feelings aside and continued to work until I was up for a promotion. During that meeting I completely let my guard down and went on and on about how I didn’t see myself working at the company anymore, but ironically enough I was too scared to quit. So instead, I was fired. I decided to take this as an omen and start applying the social media techniques I learned to my own channels. This lead me to pitching brands, getting paid for photo work and becoming a full-time influencer. Eventually I was able to grow my brand, Dani The Explorer, to what it is today and have the freedom I was always searching for. Now my mission is to help others feel that freedom too. Dani The Explorer is all about inspiring others to explore new possibilities, recognize the magic in the world, and live their absolute best life. Whether I’m showing you travel inspiration, being the cheerleader you need for your photoshoot (SLAY), or mentoring you through how to grow you influencer biz, I want to be the extra dose of radiance you didn’t know you needed today.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve already talked a lot about how I was fired from my job and that was the catalyst for building Dani The Explorer, but something I really want to place emphasis on is the purpose behind my brand: inspiring others to explore new possibilities, recognize the magic in the world, and live their absolute best life. Whether I’m showing you travel inspiration, being the cheerleader you need for your photoshoot (SLAY), or mentoring you through how to grow you influencer biz, I want to be the extra dose of radiance you didn’t know you needed today. My favorite kinds of people in the world are light workers who want to always bring people up and never down – this is what I want to be for others! I think having this mindset and a lot of grit allowed me to build my brand to what it is today! But now let’s talk about creative stuff. So I got my start as a photographer. I wold primarily photograph epic nature scenes and blog about them. Now my focus is on capturing more creative portraits, teaching others how to pose, and how to be an influencer. Nature will always be my biggest muse. I love capturing photos that make you wan to jump into the picture to experience the scene for yourself. I think what sets me apart from other photographers in my niche is really my personality. I try to let who I am shine in my work so it evokes the feelings I want to get across to the viewer. And at the end of the day what will always make you unique as a creative will be who you are, your story, and how to convey that to the world.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My boyfriend Scott has helped me more than he knows. When I was initially fired from my job, he helped me cover living expenses, take photos, and complete brand deals so I could build my business. He never even asked for anything in return- all he wanted was for me to make my dreams come true. When you’re already feeling so down and beat up by the world or feel like nothing is going your way, having a cheerleader at your corner does WONDERS for you. Scott made a lot of sacrifices to help me grow my business and I’m so grateful for them!
