Meet Daniel Jaspersen | Magician | Mentalist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Daniel Jaspersen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Daniel, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
Over Deliver. Hiring entertainment for an event is very difficult. Even with sample videos, testimonials from past clients, and other bits of marketing, it’s very challenging to determine if an act will be a good fit for your event. So, always, always over work and over deliver.
In my case, I work hard to customize work from my clients. I want them to feel special and look good for their guests. I tend to research my upcoming events a couple weeks prior to performing, I want to understand their company, goals, and culture as best as possible. Then I spend a few days writing presentations related to the client.
Also, spend extra time making sure I perform for any special guests and VIPs attending. Take your time and add value to the event on behalf of your client.
This is the real secret to getting booked again.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Magic is such an odd corner of art. It sits at the intersection of theater and surrealism. I started into magic through card magic, but quickly expanded my interests and studies into mentalism, and other styles.
This may sound odd, but I want my guests to believe they are experiencing genuine magic. That type of a goal forces me to pursue a realistic style and a certain level of quality. Magic is very difficult. To execute a trick is not that hard, but to make it feel right, to feel real is the challenge.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There is only one mandatory stop, Little Man Ice Cream.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’m the product of several influences. When I was a kid, my parents exposed me to several performers at Disney World, Cirque du Soleil, and other places. My college theater professor (Peter Bleodel) is still a brilliant juggler and magician. He encouraged me to explore the weird and challenging side of solo performance. Today, 20 years into my journey, my dear friend and fellow magician – David Gerard, is still pushing me towards excellence. There are many people, who have nudged me along the way. I’m deeply grateful for their friendships, support, and advice.
