We had the good fortune of connecting with Daniel Peralta and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Daniel, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
From a young age, I’ve been deeply passionate about visual art. As a child, I was constantly drawing. Whenever I’ve attempted other creative pursuits, I inevitably find myself returning to drawing, illustration, or painting. There’s something incredibly fulfilling about taking a blank canvas and transforming it into something captivating. This process of creation is my absolute favorite feeling, and I relish every step. I couldn’t imagine devoting myself to anything else – visual art is both my hobby and my true passion.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Pursuing creative endeavors requires sacrifice and hard work from the very start. It’s not always easy or fun – you may have to forgo social, romantic, and recreational activities to cultivate your skills and develop your unique style. However, it’s important to put yourself out there and let people discover your work. Don’t worry about pleasing everyone; create for yourself and the select few who find meaning in your art. The recognition and rewards will come later, but only if you’re willing to do the difficult work upfront

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in a relatively remote area of Northern California. Although it’s a college town, it’s a bit quieter than what I’m used to from growing up in New York City and living in San Diego. The town tends to shut down early, with limited nightlife.

When visitors come, we often start by going for a hike to enjoy the scenic trails in the area. Another popular activity is checking out the artwork on display at the local Northern California art museum. For something more lighthearted, we might play a round of mini golf. And no trip is complete without a visit to the local Sierra Nevada brewery, which is probably my favorite restaurant in town.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My girlfriend Dawn has had a profound, positive impact on my artistic career. As a talented visual artist herself, she has been a major creative influence, pushing me to elevate my work and brand beyond simply creating as a “starving artist.” Thanks to her encouragement and support, I now have an online store where I sell my art, making it more accessible to my audience. Dawn’s guidance has been instrumental in helping me transition from passively waiting for customers to actively promoting and selling my work.

My parents have also been my biggest supporters, always encouraging my creative pursuits throughout my life without pressure to pursue a different path. I’ve been fortunate to have a great support system in my family, friends, and brother, who have made me feel validated in pursuing my passions.
