We had the good fortune of connecting with Daniela Tylova and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Daniela, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I created this business after growing it from a hobby. It started with friends and family liking my creations to strangers complimenting my jewelry. So, I started an Etsy shop. After some time selling online, I decided to attend my first market. I received so many compliments and the people’s excitement and love for my jewelry made me want to do this more often. And this is how it began.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Starting as a hobby, I never would have imagined the possibilities of starting my own successful small business. I have always used a natural medium to work with and using real flowers, leaves, ferns, and other fauna creates a genuine connection with Mother Nature. Turning earths treasures into art became my passion and I ran with it. At first, I never took my creations seriously or even thought about being able to sell them, but with a little motivation from friends and family, I created Czech out the Rock. After working and living in Denver for about a year, my husband and I decided to take a leap of faith and move to the mountains. Our dream of living in the Colorado mountains would not be stopped, even if we didn’t have any jobs planned. After my husband found a stable job quite quickly, I decided I was going to go full time on my business. With the extra time throughout the week, I was able to expand my retail storefronts as well as produce more jewelry to keep up with market demands. Running my own business has had many ups and downs, but I am so grateful for the lessons, relationships, and friends I have made along the way. Though things are not always easy, with a bit of hard work and creativity, anything is obtainable.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, as explained in the past questions, I am a mountain woman at heart. If my best friend Riley came to visit, I would start off by exploring local breweries in town. From there, we would uber over to Zeppelin station in order to each get whatever type of food we want! After enjoying an early dinner, maybe we would head over to Meow Wolf to get the full Denver experience. In the days to come, we would explore the more eclectic neighborhoods of Denver such as RINO. Exploring local parks and museums would be on our list of fun as well!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many awesome and talented people in my life. Learning and growing with other vendors has been a huge support to grow and expand my business. I would love to give a shout out to all my art and vendor friends for mentoring me through the difficult, confusing, and exciting world of markets. I would also love to give a huge shoutout to Harper Rose Gallery for giving me the opportunity and knowledge to grow into the storefront retail. Most of all though, I would like to shoutout my husband for all of the help and support he has provided. Last but not least, we would not have been able to make it to this point without the support of our wonderful customers. It is always a pleasure to meet so many beautiful people.
