Meet Danielle Harris | Digital Creator and Author

We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Danielle, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk taking is something that I think is so important. I was actually a registered nurse in the Midwest before leaving that career to focus on digital creation and write my first novel, making the move to Colorado. I think sometimes our human nature wants us to stay in spaces that feel safe, we don’t want to feel uncomfortable. We have to allow some space within ourselves for feeling uncomfortable, for risk taking. That’s where the most growth happens.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I create content on Instagram. When we think of digital creators, especially on Instagram, I think our minds go immediately to overly-filtered selfies, perfectly curated feeds and “picture perfect” lives. I really try to break down that disconnect with my followers. No body’s life is perfect, our kids aren’t always matching, our houses aren’t always clean, our makeup and hair isn’t always perfect. So I post those things, I want to be real and raw and relatable.
I’m also an author. I’ve done copy for social media and am currently writing my first novel about breaking generational curses, and I am so excited to share it with the world.
From a young age I knew I wanted to be creative in my career. I grew up lower middle class and really didn’t see myself being able to take a creative path so I chose nursing as my mother was a nurse. When I decided to leave nursing, it was tough. I knew there was going to be a space of emptiness that I had to live with and I didn’t really know what I would fill it with.
When I decided to explore digital creation, it started as me just documenting the trips and hikes we took. For me, it was at-least a cool way for my girls to look back and see their childhood.
As for my novel, I’ve held onto this story for a novel for years, it’s very personal to me, and I realized that the emptiness that leaving nursing left could be filled with writing.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh gosh, there are so many cool things to do here! We spend the majority of our time outdoors, taking in the awesome weather and nature Colorado has to offer.
The first day I would take them to South Platte Park in Littleton, there are some really beautiful and accessible trails there. We would take the trails to Aspen Grove Shopping Center, stopping in to Butterscotch Grove for a sweet treat.
We could do a fun hike close to Denver, Beaver Creek trail in Golden, then head to Idaho Springs for some quaint mountain town shopping and have Tommyknocker Brewery for dinner (and beer!).
At least once we’d have Denver Biscuit Company, and obviously come back for Fat Sully’s pizza in the evening. In between meals, we would shop 16th St Mall and check out Union Station.
We would spend a day at Chatfield Reservoir, hanging out at the beach and paddle boarding. Torchy’s Taco’s would be a must afterwards.
Last but certainly not least, we would have to get tickets to see a show at Red Rocks Ampitheatre!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout is dedicated to my husband, there’s no way I’d be where I am without your unconditional love and support.
