We had the good fortune of connecting with Danny Combs and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danny, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea of TACT (Teaching the Autism Community Trades) came from a place of looking to support my son with autism. The autism community is the highest unemployed group in the country at 90%. 1-44 children are diagnosed with autism and resources are limited and expenses are high. My family has worked in the skilled trades for generations and when I saw my son also had this talent and there was no avenue for him to pursue it, I knew I had to create it and pave it.

That’s what we do at TACT. We build on the strengths and abilities of an incredible community and provide the opportunities for them to discover careers and independence.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
TACT is one-of-a-kind. We’re the only organization in the country that uses the skilled trades to develop job skills and employment for individuals with autism.

One of the things that makes us unique is we’re a strengths based organization. Meaning, we work with every individual to discover their talent and passion, and then pave a path to get them there. The autism community is the highest unemployed group in the country and we believe everyone deserves a chance to fulfill their dream and have the equal opportunity.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Good question! I would take them to my favorite brewery – Mockery or my favorite distillery – Laws Whiskey for drinks. As a former professional musician, there is not better place to hear music than Red Rocks and my favorite hike of Mt. Falcon.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My son Dylan, who has inspired me in more ways than I’ll ever be able to quantify. He’s my world and deserves a bright and fulfilling future!
