We had the good fortune of connecting with Daria Brand and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Daria, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
“Remember why you started”. I drew these words on a poster and hung it in my office. Often in a giant maze of work and daily tasks we forget the core reasons why we are where we are right now. I think it is critically important to remember why you have decided to spend lots of your time, energy and money on a certain project. Always remember and honor your dream for the pursuit of this is far more important than all of those things. Ideas that gave you a reason to spend all your energy and build a product from scratch. When you look back at it you remember true values, core directions and goals. It helps you not to get lost in giant to-do lists.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Levelhead Balance Boards & Art is a Denver Starup that I have launched this summer. We handcraft balance board in collaboration with artists. The entire manufacture built here in Colorado.

Finding work and life balance is one of the reasons I have created Levelhead Boards & Art. ln this busy world of data and technology people forget how to spend time on their own. Often we get scared to be alone. We dive into work, deny ourselves breaks, we find refuge in the screens of our phones, discounting that even 10 minutes spent with yourself helps to get a better life balance. We are the sum of our experiences. It is time to accept yourself for who you are, level your head and get in alignment with your mind, body, and feelings. Never forget that you are the most important person in your life.
I believe that one can’t find true balance simply by training. Balance is in surrounding yourself with things that inspire and motivate, it is in seeing beauty in everything you do, in your mindset, in the people around you. My company can’t help you with the latter but we can definitely create a perfectly shaped board with prints that may inspire you every day.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’d most definitely start with the breakfast at Lucile’s Creole Cafe, those biscuits and gravy are to die for. From there we would head straight to the mountains. I love camping at Gross Reservoir and around Nederland. There are some amazing spots along the Guanella pass also. There are so many beautiful hikes in Colorado that it is hard to pick one or two, just open AllTrails, pick a random name and it won’t disappoint. While in Nederland you have to stop for a craft beer and the best pizza at Cross Cut. They have a giant wood fired oven and they truly make an amazing pie. With big long tables outside and random non-matching ceramic plates, lights above your head and creek on your side it feels like you are in Europe.

Back in town I’d go to Highlands. Dinner at Linger (the bacon wrapped dates!!), walk down to Forest Room Five for their outdoor patio. It is truly a piece of art, between the fireplaces, log chairs and random art objects it is a fun and very cozy place for a good company conversation night. From there just cross the bridge and keep walking around town, down to Larimer Square. Oh, and don’t forget to reserve an evening for a Boulder Pottery Lab date night. It is truly an amazing experience for the ones who are interested in making things with their hands. I have been taking courses there for a while now and I absolutely love it.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
As corny as it sounds – my circle of friends and family. They inspire me everyday. Once I had an idea and I would share it with my closest group they would brainstorm it with me and come up with the most brilliant solutions in situations where I wouldn’t know what to do. They helped me to believe in myself, they share fitting podcasts, books, music at times I needed guidance and clarity, they give me courage everyday. And I am so incredibly grateful for the people around me. My younger sister, who is 15, created an art collection for the boards, my dad, an expert wood craftsman, helped to make sure the manufacture was running smoothly, and my stepsons took part in photoshoots… It’s a family afair!
