We had the good fortune of connecting with Darkinia Castleberry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Darkinia, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I utilize my artistic/creative side as an outlet, a way to escape and see a different side of things.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am most excited about being a travel advisor because it allows me to explore unknown parts of the world, while sharing my experience with others, and encouraging them to do the same. I am most proud of being able to include my photography as a vast part of the adventure. It’s exciting planning for others and getting them to fulfill their dreams of travel.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Our week long itinerary lands us in Tuscany Italy, each morning is started with an espresso, coffee, pastry or warm croissant at the local coffee shop. We’ll explore local shops and artisans for glass blowing, cooking lessons, and while getting photo shots of some of the major sights Italy is known for….

There must be time to visit Rome, Venice, Florence and the Amalfi Coast if permitted. Honestly, the best way to visit Italy is to take each day as it comes, playing it by ear and sometimes not following an itinerary. Take the off-beaten path, watch and learn from the locals, the towns people are the true source for entertainment. The locals can make suggestions that aren’t necessarily tourist spots.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would have to give credit most definitely to family and friends who have encouraged and supported me along the way. My mom, dad, children, and brothers all have in one way or another supported my enthusiasm and love for incorporating photography and travel.
