Meet David Sockrider | Artist and Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with David Sockrider and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi David, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
Always keep progressing toward your dreams and goals. You may need to discover the many paths to same goal.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have many influences along the way but I believe that originality and creativity are the most important elements of a great piece of art. I’ve discovered color then layout connects with an individual then the subject matter is absorbed. Human beings are driven by emotions and art sparks an emotional response. If I have the power to evoke emotional responses, I want people to be happy and amused.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would start by viewing museums and galleries in Denver. In the summer visit Waterworld or Elich Gardens. A priority would be to go to a show at Red Rocks. We’d then visit the Sand Dunes National Park and visit several hot springs and relax for a couple of days, Visit some casinos in Blackhawk. We’d visit Summit County and see the sites, take a leisurely boat ride on the lake and maybe take in a show at Lake Dillon Amphitheater.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to thank all my parents, my patrons, the many musicians, visual artists, festival organizers and small business owners who have helped me succeed along the way. With everyone working together, we can succeed together.
