Meet Delahna Johnson | Makeup Artist & Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Delahna Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Delahna, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
I feel like there’s no true end goal for PoshMade. I consistently want to expand and grow my brand. One of my goals is to have a one stop beauty salon filled with professional makeup artists, hairstylist, nail techs and lash techs and to have PoshMade Salon a staple for Houston locals and visitors as a place you absolutely need to come for all things beauty. And eventually open franchises.
I also want my cosmetics line, PoshMade Cosmetics to be known worldwide.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am Delahna Johnson, a Houston based makeup artist located in the Galleria area. I moved here back in 2021 from my hometown Killeen, Texas. I specialize in full face natural glams which I call them my signature “ Instagram Baddie Glam”.
What sets my business apart is the combination of experience, personalized service, and attention to detail I bring to every client. With over five years as a full-time makeup artist, I’ve worked with a wide range of skin tones, face shapes, and styles—allowing me to tailor each look to highlight the client’s natural beauty while aligning with their vision. I prioritize not only flawless makeup application but also a calming, professional experience—especially important during high-stress events like weddings or photoshoots. At PoshMade, clients know they’re not just getting makeup—they’re getting someone who genuinely cares about making them feel confident and radiant.
God, the support of my family, and being consistent on social media definitely played a huge part in the success of my business.
Building a consistent clientele in a new city definitely was challenging however I was dedicated to make a name for myself and makeup is a passion of mine so during the hard times I remember why I started and that gave me the motivation to keep pushing. I would post multiple times daily on social media and run specials to get new people in.
A important lesson I’ve learned is entrepreneurship can have its ups and down. Just because you have a slow month doesn’t mean you are not doing what you are destined to do. Whenever it’s a slow time in business reflect, brainstorm, pray and execute.
One thing I want the world to know about me is that throughout all of the ups and down and business, I’ve always kept God first and that has really carried me through throughout these years.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was coming to Houston especially on a Sunday, we would definitely start in third ward at the locker room to get some crawfish and their daiquiris, listen to some music, dance and then bar hop in third ward. After that I would take her to Victory to continue the turn up and take a few shots and smoke Hookah. Knowing us we would end up at an after hours like Rumors or Living room.
During the week we would do a number of things like going to the Aquarium, Museums and go to Bald Kitty.
I would also take her to my favorite restaurants/ lounges like Joey Uptown, Nomad Reserve, Drakes Hollywood, Lotus, and Lov3

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother played a huge role in the motivation in me moving to Houston and jump starting my business as a full time celebrity makeup artist. I’ve always saw her working hard balancing work, me and my sisters busy schools schedules, and starting her own business. I always admired her work ethic, and her drive when it came to balancing it all. When I was living in Killeen she would always say how she wished she would’ve moved away to a bigger city. Constantly hearing my mom say that lit something inside of me and motivated me to work hard and make both our dreams a reality and make her proud. She is my biggest cheerleader and she always supports any decision I make in my business.
