We had the good fortune of connecting with Diana Hall and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Diana, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
ActivArmor provides the only sanitizable, waterproof casts on the market that allow you to wash your hands during the Covid pandemic. You can swim and shower like normal in them – practice basic hygiene. You can sweat and train and work out, play on the beach, do the gardening and the dishes, simply live your normal active lifestyle while healing. All the things you are restricted from doing in a traditional cast or splint.
The custom design options allow for use of bone stimulators to reduce your fracture healing time, muscle stimulators to reduce rehab time, bio monitors, and other advanced healing technologies.
Our devices are fitted to each patient’s unique body map using a 3D scan – because one size DOESN’T fit all. Each device is then designed specifically for that patient’s unique injury or condition and lifestyle to improve patients’ quality of life.
ActivArmor is the next generation in casting and splinting – keeping people active and safe while healing.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
ActivArmor was founded when I saw kids in poverty having to wear stinky, dirty, soggy casts for weeks at a time. They couldn’t practice basic hygiene or even wash their hands to have a snack! We are proud to have a solution to traditional fiberglass and plaster casting, and bring immobilization into the 21st century. I’m most proud of how we have persevered in bringing a new technology into a low-tech and risk-averse market as a small, self-funded start-up. We have had to run very lean, and focus on efficiency and effectiveness – not being intimidated by big medical device companies with lots of money and backing. We have overcome the challenges by being mission-driven. Our goal is to help people… to help improve people’s quality of life and safety. People can see that this is our focus and they want to be involved; want to help. So our patients and providers and investors all become champions for our product and part of our team.
We have learned that people are becoming more empowered when it comes to their health. Patients want options, and they need to be able to advocate for themselves, because big pharma, insurance companies, and bureaucratic hospital systems aren’t going to do it for them! And that most doctors truly care about their patients’ quality of life. They want the best and safest options for their patients, but are often restricted by regulatory, insurance and hospital network rules and policies.
We want the world to know that safe, waterproof casts and splints are available nationwide to ANY patient and any provider using our free iPhone app right now. If you need a cast or splint on a leg, arm or hand, and want to be able to shower and wash like normal, we can help you. www.ActivArmor.com. We are also available in Canada, Kuwait, Greece and South Africa.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In the winter, we’d take them skiing, of course, and then a stop at Beau Joes in Idaho Springs for pizza! Or to the hot springs in Pagosa after a day at Wolf Creek. In Pueblo, we’d take them to the Chile festival in August and to have the best sloppers at the Sunset Inn. In the summer, we’d go to Brue’s Alehouse on the riverwalk for craft beers on the patio and live music, and then the Mesa Drive In. We’d take jet skis out on Lake Pueblo and some rock climbing at Garden of the Gods, and maybe a concert at Red Rocks.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to shout-out to my amazing team at ActivArmor – Michelle, Dave, Brian, Adam, Roy, Tanner and Austin. These folks have sacrificed and worked hard to ensure that our product is the best it can be – constantly improving quality and innovating, and I couldn’t do it without them.
