We had the good fortune of connecting with Diomira Rose D’Agostino and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Diomira Rose, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
While the times we live in are a breeding ground for innovation and change, when we stop long enough to ponder our present situation as individuals and as a humanity, most of us feel a sense of growing discontentedness.
It may show up as anxiety or concern over the state of the world or environment; but what I’ve learned is that, while we’re busy looking “out there” for the reason we feel restlessness, the discontent and unsettledness many of us feel does not stem from “out there” but actually comes from within.
Anxiety, despair, urgency, restlessness, the feeling something is missing, but you can’t totally put your finger on what that something is. These are all symptoms of a deeper issue, a core wound of feeling separate and disconnected from one’s true self which, at one’s core is intrinsically interdependent and part of nature.
This is quite a bit deeper than going for a walk in the woods to get away from over-stimulation of technology for twenty minutes. It speaks to a way of being that lives and breathes in relationship with Mother Earth, Gaia.
The work I do helps people connect with their soul essence and remember who they really are, from a very deep place. Through my stories, teachings, and vibrational medicines called flower and earth essences, people come home to themselves. They begin to see themselves as part of the living tapestry of life on Earth, part of the sacred ecology of this planet. There’s an awakening that happens from within.
In truth, the awakening is usually already underway when people come to me. They’ve been hearing a pulse or a call sounding within their hearts, coupled with a sense of urgency, that there is something more to this world than what they can see and have been taught to believe. There is far more mystery, light, essence, and truth existing and available to them, and Elemental Whispers Essences and as well as the other offerings I share offer a way to peel back the veil to peer inside to a world within, to touch into that which is both greater than them and very much a part of them.
Working with these spiritual processes and forest and earth alchemical medicines, pathways of love, enchantment and remembrance are opened up within each person, so they can access spirit, inner truth, living magic and mythic reality for themselves.
Once this connection is made, I watch people come alive with purpose, vitality, passion and awe-struck wonder at the beauty of life that is all around them, hidden in plain sight.
It’s magical to behold this awakening, enlivening, initiatory journey of soul remembrance.
What should our readers know about your business?
My business has evolved and grown over the years, and in several instances has changed form completely. But no matter the different offerings that emerge, what is at the heart of my work, as my compass and guiding light, is my deep devotion to the Earth as a conscious being who is seeking to re-engage with the heart of each person to help them remember, at the deepest level of their being, who they are and how to live in relationship and conscious dialogue with the myriad expressions of life on this planet.
When we look out at the world we see trees, flowers, plants, animals. Perhaps we see buildings and roads if we live in a city. But there, existing just beyond what the physical eye can perceive, is a living, breathing sacred ecology that includes an energetic and spiritual dimension of life. Gaia is populated by many spiritual inhabitants that are part of the family of sentience on Earth. Whether we can see them or not, they are our relations too and we share this planet together as a home.
In ancient and indigenous cultures, humanity operated with this knowing at the forefront of everyday life and choices. But somewhere along the way, in the midst of the Industrial Revolution and the Age of Technology, many of us have lost this knowing; we have forgotten.
Now, more than ever, there is a blaring invitation to return to this knowing and live into it. My business operates with this knowing at its heart. The intention to help others connect into this knowing feeds and informs every offering, every service, every product I create.
I’m happy to say that I got to where I am today by engaging and personally living into this knowing myself. It’s not just a nice idea that I keep in my head. It’s a reality that I live and embody with every breath I take. I see the interconnected energy flows of all life and engage with it as sacred. This love and truth flows through all my offerings–the essences, the books, the classes, and programs.
The biggest challenge I have had is in the translation of this seemingly simple but ultimately profound knowing and reality into human language like I’m doing now. How does one speak about the subtle, spiritual, sublime nature of the Great Mystery in a way that makes it feel accessible, understandable, approachable, even desirable and especially necessary to someone who hasn’t had the experience of what I’m talking about?
Using language to create a bridge between the challenge/core wound people are experiencing and the experience of the mystical, unseen dimension of Gaia, has taken a lot of effort. For years, I struggled with how to translate the living experience my clients, students and I were having into something that made sense for others. This included spending lots of money on business coaching and years of constant refinement.
Then one day I let all that go. With deep gratitude for the many lessons I had learned, I threw out almost everything I had picked up from the business coaching world about how to speak about what I do and the offerings my business shares. I started over and just spoke from my heart and from what is true for me.
What I started to understand was that spiritual training, initiation and the process of emotional healing has been stripped of our western modern culture. So we don’t really have language to convey the need for it and the benefits it offers. Nor is it easy to convey its necessity and critical importance at this time in our planet’s history.
Therefore, rather than trying to explain it or teaching a lot about it, as I once did, I realized people just need to feel and experience it.
Once this energetic is felt, the rest is easy. That’s a large part of why I began creating flower and earth essences. To offer people the “felt-experience” of being part of an enchanted living Earth reality.
Someone’s experience might not change overnight, but drop by drop (that’s how the essences are taken–ingested internally, a few drops at a time), over a period of time, each person can come to feel the truth of their being in their body and in their hearts.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Where I live in the mountains near the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia, I truly have the best of both the world of nature and stimulating culture and dining in Charlottesville. We would definitely go for a drive in the Shenandoah National Park and explore some of the exquisite hiking trails. Some of my favorites are South River Falls, White Oak Canyon and Falls, and White Rock River and Falls area.
After we felt perfectly immersed and saturated with all the magic of forest, then we might hop over to Charlottesville, into the city, for some shopping, delicious food (because I am a foodie!), and fun.
My favorite dinner restaurants are Alley Light (reminds me of a speakeasy because you kind of have to know where it is; you turn down an alleyway and its entrance is only signified by the light above the door. There is no sign. Fun, right?); Brasserie Saison, a European-inspired French Belgian bistro; Fleurie, a to-die-for gourmet French restaurant.
Lost Saint, a cool cellar cocktail bar, also a speakeasy vibe.
Lunch places: Rapture in the downtown outdoor mall or one of the many breweries off Highway 151 such as Wild Wolf or Blue Mountain, which has the best view of the mountains in the area in my opinion.
Then, if we were staying in, we might go to Basic Necessities in Nellysford to grab some artisan cheeses, french wines, and chocolate to bring back and hang by the fire with.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The list here is a long one, as we live in such a beautifully interdependent universe. I’d like to start by offering a deep bow of gratitude to my teachers in human form: Cindy Fuller of Inner Quest Metaphysical Church, Amma, Drunvalo Melchizedek, Shasta Zaring of Goddess Garden Atlanta, Sondra Ray, Tricia McCannon and so many others who have offered the perfect word at the perfect, divinely orchestrated time or shared the support and perspective I needed along my journey.
I’d also like to give a shoutout to my dearest soul sisters and friends who have been a great support and reflection: Rosemary Quade Nichols, Meghan Gilroy, Chelsea Holland, Courtney Long, Jessica Naim, Alexandria Sciarappa, and Betty Estremera.
To my beloved partner Curtis Mischler who is a partner, best friend and soulmate and has supported my work in the world from day one, thank you, my love.
Finally, I cannot overstate how grateful I am to those who are less often seen, named, felt, but are nevertheless with me each and every step of the way–my beloved colleagues and allies of the unseen realms of spirit and to Gaia herself–without you, my work would not have life, nor would it exist. Our partnership and continued efforts of cooperative co-creation fill me with such gratitude and overwhelming joy, and my heart is often overflowing with the love and devotion of our connection and continued work.
