Meet Somah Devi Ma | Essential oil importer & spiritual guide

We had the good fortune of connecting with Somah Devi Ma and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Somah, how do you think about risk?
I enter change the word risk with opportunity, generally in my life. When I was 11, a trip to Europe was offered to my older brother and then my older sister; they both refused and I took it. I saw it as an opportunity not a risk. I’ve been living my life with that theory ever since.
Ive ridden a motorcycle over the highest motorable road in the world, in the Himalayan ‘s. It’s a risk but it shows me my limitless nature. It teaches me that fear is a luxury and that focus & freedom is where expansion happens.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
While in India, learning holistic ancient practices, I was given an opportunity to utilize my joy of chemistry and uncover wisdom in Essential Oils. As I was learning about the different strains, I learned what main stream common practices we’re doing with these beautiful botanicals and it made me sad. MLM companies were lowering the quality but increasing the price. At that same time I learned about the connection between the olfactory and the synaptic nerve center of the brain.
I introduced breath work, meditation and scent and it became an outstanding tool for helping my students increase their meditation skill set, improving wellness, sleep & overall energy.
I offer a 200 hour yoga certification program that includes all aspects of healthy living including Essential Oils and Yoga.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would head straight to the mountains! There is nothing like spring skiing at 10,000 feet in Colorado.
Next, we would spend a day driving through the mountains and get to the flat terrain where the weather is gorgeous and play golf on the western slope.
After a half days drive we would head to the Hot Springs. No need to bring your swimsuit as it is a free-for-all for everyone!! They have on-site camping and lodging so that brings us to the next day..
After driving up from the southern portion of the state, we will pass through Colorado Springs and play tourist there including checking out the Olympic Training center as well as the Air Force Academy.
Last few days of action? Definitely a drive-through old mining towns heading back into Denver.
We will take electric scooters one afternoon/eve, as we cruise around the town looking at historical landmarks and ending the evening at the Vendome French bistro restaurant.
A walk through Pearl Street in Boulder is definitely a must. We will recover & go to a wonderful Colorado spa for therapies, treatments and a hot stone massage!
A day hike through the Castlewood Canyon and that will sum up your Colorado visit!
I know you want to stay so you’ll need to come back!!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
