We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsay Emmerich and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lindsay, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Here at Fairytale Floral we are extremely conscious of our environmental impact, and each year we make it our mission to find new ways to be even better! Since the beginning, we have used minimal plastics and packing materials, as well as religiously recycling and repurposing whenever possible! We are currently working to eliminate the use of floral foam, which can be terrible for landfills and is used globally on a very large scale. This has been a fun new way for us to design and allows us to get even more creative with our installations! Another goal of ours this year is use locally grown florals as often as possible! Not only do they last longer and help grown our local economy, but they also come with a much smaller carbon footprint
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Fairytale Floral is a floral design studio offering whimsical and botanical floral designs for weddings and events! Along with unique designs and floral selections, we offer a more personal experience with our clients. Instead of picking from a list of set packages, we have a detailed consultation to find out each couples needs and wants for their day, and from there we create a vision together! Starting Fairytale Floral was definitely not a walk in the park! I had it on the side (and on the back burner) for many years while working full time in various floral shops throughout Colorado. I would work a 60 hour week and then come home to design my personal weddings and events afterhours. There were MANY long nights and many tears (Lol), but here we are 5 years later, with a fully booked wedding season for the 5th year in a row!! I’ve definitely learned that it not only takes a lot of drive and hard work to be a small business owner, but an amazing team as well.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am all about adventuring!! We would absolutely do some hiking or depending on the time of year; snowshoeing, snowboarding, dog sledding or paddle boarding (Or all of the above!) I personally love Breckenridge and Vail for Winter activities or Glenwood Springs for the summer! Red rocks is also a necessity no matter the time of year While over by Red Rocks, Beso de Arte is an absolute MUST! Their food is delicious and they make a mean marg and red sangria! Brunch is also a Denver favorite so eating at Sassafras or Cafe Terracotta with a stroll through the Highlands or Downtown Littleton is the best way to spend the morning. For dinner we love Izakaya Den or Iwayama Sushi, not to mention our obsession with Mexican food! Benny’s, La Loma and Las Portrancas are few of our local faves. RiNo is a must for street art and fun nightlife! And there are a million distilleries, breweries and cideries to check out! Breckenridge Distillery, Stem Cider and Spirit Hound are a few of our top places
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I absolutely owe my love of flowers, nature and plants to my wonderful Aunt Patti. She was an amazingly creative person who was a ray of sunshine! She had the most beautiful garden, with all kinds of unique plants and flowers, and was definitely a huge impact on my life and my career.
