We had the good fortune of connecting with Director Ave and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Director, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The moment I decided to take on the perspective that I had to be ahead of the trends and start doing things that were not necessarily popular yet, but had the potential to be. My firm belief was that popular music videos were going to soon be integrated with more and more Hollywood style VFX and 3D animation and even though I had no evidence to prove this, I dedicated the following years to improve my skillsets in these advanced editing methods.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
At first glance of my work my videos are not usually conventional and typically contain some twist visually involving 3D or VFX. I’m proud to be different and if there is anything that brought me the opportunities that I have been getting recently, I believe it is the fact I stand out. I think because of me niching down into an untapped market, I was able to make it to a point of success quicker than if I was following trends. I won’t say it was easy but most of my struggles came from problems in life outside of the art and business. I think anyone can get big opportunities with enough time and patience towards a craft. I have always loved learning new programs on the computer and then moving on to harder programs. I think these programs can definitely be intimidating so it is understandable why a lot of people quit early. I like doing things that people couldn’t figure out quickly, the magic for me is in the work that takes time to mastery.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
It depends on the type of person they are, what type of music, food, vibes they enjoy. It is a decently large and diverse city so there is something for just about anyone. If you like nature, the mountains are right there, if you enjoy nightlife the city has a club or bar that is playing your favorite genre every night.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The people who deserve the most credit in my story are the people who believed in my skills and paid me their hard earned money to do what I love. Every day as an entrepreneur is a challenge with faith as we never know where or when our next check will come. Every customer is an extra layer of faith I can add to my foundation and motivation to keep pushing so if business slows, I will always have the faith to know the next big opportunity could be right around the corner.
