We had the good fortune of connecting with Donna Galassi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Donna, what do you attribute your success to?

I’ve been in business for over eleven years, and have grown from a solo-preneur to a team of four. 2020 has been a year of challenges and a year of opportunity for us. The number one most important factor behind the success and growth of my business is simple – its having a big vision, and seeing purpose as something bigger than myself. To me, it comes down to recognizing the transformation made in the lives of our customers, seeing how working with us changes their lives and business. It is that which keeps me inspired.

It boils down to so much more than the services we offer. We see how our customer’s business grows after working with us. It is in seeing that growth, that transformation that keeps us motivated. Being an entrepreneur is not always easy. There are tough days, decisions to be made, and lots of work to be completed. And by keeping the transformation in the forefront of all the work we do, keeps me and my team focused on the bigger picture, the attention to detail, the level of excellence required because we see how it all fits into a bigger picture of success.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

Our company, Blue Zenith Design + Strategy provides digital marketing solutions. We see our digital marketing services as pieces of a puzzle, parts that need to always drive a business forward: mainly, getting more customers to grow your business.

Before starting my business in 2009, I was a software engineer, so I’m a bit of a tech geek and love to figure out how technology can best be used to solve problems. What makes us unique in our field, is that we are a small business ourselves, and can understand the challenges of our customers. We see each customer as an individual, and by truly listening to their challenges, can find ways to tell their story to drive digital engagement.
With more businesses going digital, it’s key to have a plan for how to best engage with your customers online. That’s where our technology expertise comes into play. 2020 has truly been an opportunity for us – and for our customers. By rethinking how you want to engage with your customers, and finding ways to use digital to build and grow community and online offerings, our customers have continued to see growth. And though some things may change, others remain the same.
Since our beginning, we have built our business through relationships and getting to know our customers and understanding their challenges. Though I operate my business in a digital world, I very much believe that each customer comes only when they feel respected and understood. Relationships are so important in growing and building a business.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

I love being in the mountains! Getting in touch with nature – and away from my computer screen – is always my top priority on a summer afternoon. My favorite place in the Colorado mountains is Summit County, Colorado. Anyone coming to visit needs to be immersed in that beauty. This trip would need to be a long weekend in July.

One day would be spent hiking on top of Loveland Pass. You feel like you are on top of the world. Loveland Pass in July is simply heaven: the alpine flowers, the birds, the stillness. In all of that I find peace. After hiking, we’d go to Fritangas Mexican Restaurant in Silverthorne for a margarita and a plate of Mexican food. Great food and conversation after a day of hiking is just the best!
Another day would be spent hiking at the top of Keystone mountain, take the gondola up to the top and hike up the Dercum trail. The views are breathtaking. After our hike, we’d sit and listen to the band play (they start playing around 3 or 4pm on a summer Friday afternoon). What can be better than sitting at the top of the mountain, overlooking the Dillon reservoir, and listening to live music.
If you enjoy biking, there is nothing better than biking up Swan Mountain trail to the top of the mountain. The views are amazing and though its a climb, its so worth it when you get to the top and overlook Breckenridge mountain. The trip down the mountain on your bike is always fun, too! Afterwards, the reward can be soaking in the hot tub. A great way to end the day!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I operate my business with my son, Alex Galassi. He’s been with Blue Zenith 7 of the 11 years in business. He began working with me after graduating college in 2013. His partnership has allowed the business to thrive and grow. He has the same level of compassion for our customers as I do, the same desire to see their growth through our services. His partnership has allowed me to focus on growing the business, while he manages much of the development work. I am forever grateful for his being part of this entrepreneurial journey!
