We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Barb Hughson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Barb, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
Inspiration is a wonderful process. I find myself drawn to people who are willing to try new things, who are able to move through life with empathy and who are living from a place of kindness. I seek out these stories every day as a way to connect to what truly matters in life. We all have a past and we all have some issues within us that can knock us to our knees. Those people who are willing to be vulnerable and dive into the discomfort zone are able to show growth and change. To me, these people and their stories are so inspiring!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I have always been one with 101 balls in the air, juggling them all equally and well. I enjoy people and I like trying new things. I began my career as a creative arts therapist providing services to families and children in their homes. At the time, no one was making house calls and if given the chance again I would do the same. I don’t fit in the ‘office space’ box. I then shifted into doing both leadership work and family law mediation. I love working with parents to guide them to become better versions of themselves for their kids. I love walking beside leaders as they take deep and hard looks into what makes them a good leader and how they can be great!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Our world is a wonder and when I have visitors it is all about the nature of the area. No matter where I have lived I always take my family and friends to hiking spots, on a bike ride or out for a ski. Nature is a true Vitamin N experience and everyone deserves a hearty dose.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to any person, male or female that has ever felt ‘less than’ in their life. I cheer for the underdog and encourage them to land on center stage. We all are of equal value on this planet and all deserve a life of love, care, kindness and empathy. I hold each of these people in a place of support and love so they can feel they are ‘more than enough’ and deserve the world.
