We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Ginger Wolfe DC, DABCI and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Ginger, what role has risk played in your life or career?
When it comes to owning your own business, risk taking is just part of the equation. It’s jumping off the cliff for your passion. You just have to commit, buckle up and make it happen! I’ve started four practices in my 21 years of practice and they have all been successful. Sometimes that means mentally thinking of where you are going, not where you are at. Initially, some weeks are good and some weeks are bad but consistency always pays off. For me, it’s offering consistent quality care and a consistent experience as a patient. And above all, I believe in what I do. I appreciate and love that I have the opportunity to offer functional medicine to patients. I’m so excited and passionate about my work that I don’t even think of it as a business. I just get to wake up every day and help people on their health and wellness journey. I truly love my patients!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a natural care-taker. I’ve yet to decide whether this is a blessing or a curse but either way, it’s something I’m proud of. I’ve operated off of emotion more than business sense through the years. Don’t get me wrong, it’s important to have a business thrive, but I believe it’s more important to do what you love and do what is right. Is that always easy? Definitely not. But it’s authentic. I often think to myself, “if I was the patient, how would I want to be cared for?”. And that’s what I do.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh wow! I hope I get to do this with her!! Hmm?… Colorado is so chalked full of fun things to do, it’s hard to know where to start. Knowing my best friend, I think we’d start with a sweat, heat and beats class at Yoga Pod, followed by a great meal at Frasca in Boulder. I’d then want to take her to the mountains. Maybe some hiking, biking and hot springs. Ideally it would be fall and we could drive over Independence Pass. Lastly, we’d enjoy the beautiful view and meal from Pine Creek Cookhouse in Ashcroft. An absolutely epic trip all around!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I was lucky enough to have an amazing mentor…my mother. She was an entrepreneur (and still is!) and had her own School of Performing Arts. Because of this I grew up singing and dancing, and mostly involved in artistic expression. But she also taught me the importance of natural and holistic healing modalities. This was part of the way we were raised: healthy foods, no soda, low sugar and how to manage our heath effectively without the use of pharmaceuticals. She may not have known the impact of her influence until I decided to go to school to become a doctor. I’m still just as artistic as I was as a child, but I’m also incredibly objective when it comes to healthcare. It’s a fun mix….50/50 left brain and right brain.
